The construction crew had been rebuilding the town of North Corel for a year, and things were coming along nicely. The person overseeing the construction was a large black man with a fake mechanical hand. He looked up at the hospital being constructed with pleasure. Things had really improved in the year and a half since Sephiroth and Shin-Ra’s demise. Before he could bark an order at a couple of guys just standing around, the whole site was filled with the loud roar of engines. “Barret!” a blonde man called from the landing airship, “I got the parts for the hospital you wanted!” A wide grin appeared on Barret’s face. Cid Highwind always came through for his friends. As Barret was the official overseer of rebuilding the town of Corel, he had known that he would need help getting supplies for construction. Cid had willingly helped with the deliveries, even though he himself was busy inventing new “terrors of the skies,” as Cid called them. “Cid! You’re the greatest man!” Barret exclaimed. “What would I do without you?” Cid grinned, “You wouldn’t be doing much of anything without my help.” And Barret knew that it was true. Without Cid’s help, Corel would never have gotten as far as it had. Barret saw Cid jump down from the ship, and the two old friends began to walk towards each other. “So Cid, how’s your co-pilot doing?” Barret inquired. “Can you actually get that guy to talk?” “I talk plenty, but only when talking is really needed.” A voice said from behind Barret, who promptly jumped up with fright and spun around, looking the shadowy man in the eyes. “Damn, Vincent. Why you always gotta sneak around like that? Gives me the chills.” Barret was shaking his head grinning. “You gotta be the freakiest guy I’ve ever met.” Vincent shrugged at this remark. “I do seem to get that a lot. I suppose I creep around, but it’s not intentional.” Cid laughed at this remark from Vincent. “Vincent, you’re a mystery. Why exactly do you want to help me with everything, anyway?” Vincent had been with Cid for the majority of the year and a half since Avalanche separated, and Vincent had never exactly told Cid why. Vincent smiled, a rare thing for him when he wasn’t killing things. “Well, to tell the truth, I really don’t have much else to do. You’re simply the most tolerable person to be around.” After this last comment, Vincent laughed to himself silently. “Well guys, sorry to interrupt this conversation, but we should probly be getting these here supplies to the hospital.” Barret broke in. He signaled for some of his men to unload the airship. As they did this, Cid carefully watched them, looking over his precious Highwind like a mother hen. Barret laughed to himself. “I wonder what that moron would do if something happened to his airship.” Barret glanced at Vincent, noticing that Vincent still carried pistols on his side. “Vincent, why you still carrying those guns? Nothing bad ever happens anymore.” Vincent looked at Barret with his ever-cold eyes. “You’re asking me why I still carry guns? Because evil is never fully vanquished, and in the untimely event that evil does rise again, I’ll be the one who’s ready. What will you do? Do you even still have your gun-arms?” Barret looked a little sheepish. The thought that a cataclysmic event like the Meteor Crisis would happen again never even crossed his mind. “I still got em. They’re just put away in ‘storage’” Barret said slowly. What Barret meant by storage is that he had locked all his arm attachments away in the keeping of Red in Cosmo Canyon, to ensure that he would live a life of peace. Vincent shook his head. “Yeah, ‘storage’.” ўџ џџџџ РFMicrosoft Word 6.0 Document MSWordDocWord.Document.6є9Вq
