----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Metroid Fuison Boss FAQ by Chris Stroker 11/26/02 Version .5 T.O.C 1-Intro 2-Bosses 3-Credits 1-Intro. After many many years of reading FAQ's and many many hours of Metroid Fusion, I decided to make a Boss Guide. Some of the bosses in this game can be really freaking evil, so this is dedicated to those of you (Like me) who go in with no idea what they're up against. 2-Bosses. Before I begin, I'd like to take a second to introcude the two types of Core-X's. Simple Core-X: Flies around hitting you, vulnerable at all areas. Complex Core-X: Flies around hitting you, except that it shoots at you, too. Only vulnerable when its "eye" is open to fire at you. Both release X Virii when summoned/hit. Think of it as a small recharge. On with the fun! ARMADILLO CORE Spoils: Morph Ball Location: Main Deck Room Layout _____________________ | | |=b | | a=| | | _| Boss! | _______________________| The first boss you encounter is fairly simple. Its pattern starts by it throwing a blue blade of energy at you and then spitting flames along the floor and finishing up by hurling itself at you. When the battle first starts, jump-hang straight up onto ledge "a" to avoid his attack. When he rolls at you, jump over him. Wait till he turns around, and blast him two or three times with missiles. Jump-hang onto ledge "b" and jump over him when he dashes for you. [Note: If you are on the wall when he hits it, you'll fall and take damage.] Repeat until the boss' second phase appears. Tis a Simple Core-X, blast it with three missiles and the day is yours! CHARGE CORE-X Spoils: Charge Beam Location: SEC 1 Room Layout ____________________ | | | == [| Door | ==== ==| | == | |_ Boss == | ||\ ___________ | |[}__/ \__[| Door Easy Fight! This is the first "Complex" Core-X you'll face. It is invincible until it decides to open its "Eye" and shoot you. You have a second between the opening and the firing, so capitalize! Pop a Cap in the mo-fo's eye! Four shot and he gives up the Charge Beam. CELERY CORE-X Spoils: Hi Jump/Jumpball Location: SEC 2 (TRO) Room Layout |]_ | | | |_ | | | | | | | | | |_________BOSS__| This boss is a giant stalk of vegetation that jumps around and tries to land on you. You'll know if the boss is attacking because the jump will be different -- It will focus on centering above you, not going over you, and it's mouth will be wide open as it parachutes down. Just shoot a missile in its mouth. Every missile will make the boss shrink, until it's just the mouth and the head. When it is down to just the mouth and the head, its only about four shots away from Phase 2. Phase two of this boss is a Simple Core-X. Did you notice that the Core-X's are taking more and more damage to bring down? Defeat it and the Hi Jump/Jumpball are yours. SERRIS Spoils: Speed Boost Location: SEC 4 (AQA) Room Layout _____________________ _______|||||||||||||||||||||_______ | ^-----Climbable-----^ [| | | = =<- = = | = === === === === = | =~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~=Ladder = = | = =<- | Boss | |]__________________________________| Firstoff, Serris is my least favorite boss. Let me tell you why! 1. If you fall in the water (And stay there), you have no chance. 2. She is very very VERY fast. 3. Her only weak point is his head, which isn't very large. 4. She hits hard. With that being said, let's move on to the strategy, shall we? The prime positioning for this battle is one of the two inner middle platforms, crouched, and with missiles ready. Serris has a complex attack pattern which involves 4 types of movement. 1. She will pull an over-under-over-under pattern between the platforms. 2. She will go over one, under one, and over two platforms. 3. She'll skim over the tops of the platforms horizontally. 4. She'll fly along the top of the room. When you hit Serris, jump straight up and cling to the ladder until she is no longer under you. Then drop down and crouch. The reason for this is because when Serris is hit, she flies into an invincible, orange rage. Just avoid her for about three or four seconds and she'll cool down again. Keep nailing her in the skull to bring the fish down. Post mordem, Serris' head detatches and turns into a Simple Core-X. Just blast it till it goes down. SECURIBOT B.O.X. Spoils: None. BOO!!!! Location: SEC 3 (PYR) Room Layout ___Ladder________ |BOSS | ____|||||||||||||||||___| | | | | | | | |]____________________________[| Door Door This boss appears after you get your Super Missile Upgrade. The only weak point it has is its small cyllindric center. The trick here is to stay on the ladder. Being on the ladder keeps you jsut out of reach of the Bot's jumping. When it shuffles its feet around, move Samus about three armswings away from it in either direction, because the boss shoots out mines that can hit you on the ladder. When the mine lands, center yourself above it quick -- it sprays dual columns of fire along the ground, and they reach all the way up to your handhold. [Note: Securibot is invulnerable when deploying mines.] Shoot down at it whenever you get a clear shot, and after about eight to ten hits, it runs away. VARIA CORE-X Spoils: Varia Suit Location: SEC 6 (NOC) Room Layout | | | | | | | | |] [| | | | === === === | |~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| |___Water__________| Whoa! Blast from the past! This guy looks exactly like the first boss from Master Blaster! Surprisingly, your missiles wont work...right now...just hit it with a full Charge Beam! It will change colors (it's a mood Core...lol...) when it goes to red, it's almost dead. After the Big Core fades away, the wee li'l Simple Core-X comes out to play. Same deal with the previous Simple Cores, blast it! Blast it dead! DEAD I SAY!!!! Sorry... HEATED CORE-X Spoils: Wide Beam (Spazer) Location: SEC 3 (PYR) Room Layout | | | | |==== | | === | | _| | __| | | _| | |____\_/__|______| ^-----Temp Control Unit A boss on a time limit! Fun, eh? Heated Core-X is a Complex Core-X that has integrated the Wide Beam into itself. Shoot the scientist to start the battle, and treat this as the other Complex Core-X'es...avoid it and shoot missiles at it when the "eye" opens. This one may be tough, depending upon how much time is left out of the 6 minutes, but it shouldn't pose _too_ much of a problem. When the battle is done, jump on the Temp Control Unit to halt the countdown. PLANT CORE-X Spoils: Plasma Beam Location: SEC 2 (TRO) You must defeat him to free the Main Silo Reactor of the roots. Room Layout ___Ceiling________ ____________ |x<-plantguns->x | Fight | | / | Core-X | | o_ \BOSS! Here | | ___ | | (_| | |___| |___| |___|_|___________[| ^-----^-----^ Door | Plant Traps First things first. Do not fall into the plants at the bottom. They will drain you. Stay at spot "o" rolled in a ball. This should cause the shots from the plantguns to soar harmlessly overhead. Use all your superbombs at point "o". You'll do a bit of damage and place the boss a few shots away from his second form. When you run out of bombs, notice the pattern of shots that the left plantgun fires. It shoots two, then rests. During these rests, pop up into a crouch and fire a few Super Ice Missle thingies at the boss. Repeat until the boss' third phase. The third phase of the boss is a complex CORE-X. Just run to the room on the right and blast the heck out of it when it opens its "eye" to shoot you. You restore your plasma beam from this bast--er, boss. SECURIBOT BETA Location: Main Deck Spoils: Space Jump Room Layout ___________ ________ [| ________| | | ___| | | | | | | | | |_______| Securibot Beta is another spiderbot. It runs around the room in a down to the right wall, over to the left wall, and up to the center triangle pattern. Every three cycles, the it stops to rain a trio of fireballs at you. If the boss makes contact with you, it grabs you, drags you up, crashes you down, and takes out a huge chunk of your life. Strategy: Stay rolled in a ball, firingat its mouth only when the boss unleashes its fiery salvo. Hit it with missiles, and if you tun out of missiles, blast it with a fully charged beam. After enough abuse, the legs fall off and the bot begins sommersaulting around the room, dropping crap on you. Blast it in its mouth. When it turns into a Simple Core-X, just blast it. The Space Jump is yours! NIGHTMARE Location: SEC 5 (ARC) Spoils: Gravity Suit Room Layout ___________________ | Entrance | | | = | =Ladder | = | = b a | | Boss | |]__________________| Nightmare live up to his name. A biomechanical creature, it is capable of screwing around with gravity. Composed of a face, two arms, and a generator, he follows you around the room. For the first part of the fight, jump on the ladder until just before Nightmare fires his lazers. When he charges, jump off and up so that he goes up. Run under him and pop off a few missiles. Repeat this until he gets angry and increases the heavy. When the gravity is tuned up, Missiles do not work normally. They just kinda go PFFT and hit the ground. Your beam, however, is perfectly fine. Get under the smelly oaf and destroy the generator with a few well-placed Charge Shots. After his generator goes, his mask comes off, and boy is he OOGLEH! A face not even a mother would love! Anyway, his strategy changes now. He slowly lumbers from point "a" to point "b" and then flies around, chasing you. Just stay on the ladder as he approaches and blast him relentlessly. He doesn't have an invincibility period. Blast him till his face melts. When he gets close, Space Jump over him. Keep pluggin him until he turns into a Simple Core-X. Then just kill it. SECURIBOT B.O.X. ROUND TWO Spoils: Wave Beam Location: SEC 6 (NOC) Room Layout _______________ _|||||||||||||||_ | ^--- Ladder --^ | | | |] [| |~~~~~~~~~~~~~| |_____________| The Bot is back, and it's not happy. He electrifies the water, shoots missiles, and is infected by the X now. Right off the bat, use a superbomb. It will open up the ceiling ladder. Stay on this ladder for your life! Strategy: Swing left and right on the ladder. The boss will shuffle along after you. When You reach the end of the ladder, and the boss is beneath you, blast it with either a full charged beam or a missile. I recomend the beam, because, as before, it's got a small weak point, and the beam is very wide. Just repeat, swinging all the way to the left/right and blasting it, and repeating. Occasionally, it will jump or launch missiles. If it jumps, get out the way, fool! It can hit you, and hit you hard! If it launches missiles, shoot 'em down or you'll take a fall. They home in on you, like some kind of...homing...missiles. Anyways, after the Bot is destroyed, it turns into a Complex Core-X. This Complex Core-X is capable of reaming you a newwun, tho...It's eauipped with the powerful Wave Beam. Just pop it in it's "eye" a few times and the Wave Beam is yours. Questions? Comments?
