    You can use it to keep an eye on the prople on your list to see wether their on or off line. You can also us it to send the same message to different people on the list without you having to type it out five times. To add people to the list then click the person avatar and then click the add to buddy list.

    Thats all its reall for as far as i can tell. I think its quite useful if you ask me.

    well, it is useful if you dont have your friends already in either MSN, yahoo, AOL or ICQ :) and cant contact them.

    You can imagine the buddy list like a MSNM or Yahoo! M. or any other messenger, when you see your friend who is added to your list can send him/her a message and like, but the message will be like a very short and small email format, kind of ^^;
