    Sharpen those pencils!
    Stretch your imagination!
    Pound on your keyboard!

BakaMattSu here with another big M2A contest!

So far, we've seen our artist's fine touch...but we'd like to see the other creative sides to our
community. This time around, we're appealing to our writers.

Ever dreamt of your own Manga or Anime movie or series? Have you found yourself sketching out
your characters, or planning everything that happens to them? Well, here's your chance to put
    it all to good use!

We want to see it! Write up a script for an epsiode or movie of your original anime/manga! Be
sure to not only include dialogue, but descriptions of characters, places, and any important
actions that take place as they happen. Of course, there are no limitations on the length of
this production of yours, but try to make it so the entire script runs about 20-30 minutes.

We're wanting to see your ORIGINAL stuff, so we won't accept any plagiarized or material
containing copyrighted material. Sorry, no fanseries involving your favorite character this
    time...

Entries will be judged based on their entertainment value and originality, and the best entrant
will win their item of choice from our very own M2A store!

The contest is now open, and will close on September 30th, 2002 as marked on our M2A community
calendar. A little over five months to pull something together...

Send along your entries to me over at bakamattsu@mangatoanime.com

Can't write, but want to still help out? Contact me to become an official contest judge!

That's all I have to say for now. Good luck, and we can't wait to see your stuff!

Well, I'd love to see what develops with all that thinking that's going on! ;)

I may have been unclear, as always, but the idea was that you were writing your own Anime or Manga. With such a wide array of themes and genres, I don't know of any stories that wouldn't translate to either form. In other words, if your story is nothing like any existing Manga or Anime in terms of relation, all the more power to you!

Judgement will be based more on how enjoyable your script is, how memorable your characters are, and how easy it would transfer to an Anime or Manga in our mind...

    Clarification please...

Do we have to adhere to a script format,or are we free to write the "episode" however we please? I can do it either way,but I'm just wondering what sort of general guidelines there are...

InuYasha - kicking around a few ideas....

    I'm unclear as usual...

No, script format is not a necessity, but it would be preferred. Write however you wish, though...It shall not affect your judgement...

I'll have to get in collaboration with Keitaro and make sure it's OK to maybe field a runthrough of Project: Stalker here, my manga that's been stalled on the first three pages for the last couple months. But now that I have the summer off, I swear I'll get through the first issue by the end of August! If it doesn't work out to submit part of Stalker for the contest, I might develop a story for Vision and see if that flies. I just really hope Keitaro can look in here once in a while and drop a word.

Q…(This is so me, ne? :shy: )

Anou… The episode I'm gonna send isn't the first in the series, so I wonder if I should put the character descriptions before I start with the script or throughout the script itself. (The former would be easier, since the in-script descriptions would be in the first ep)

Your preference. If the in-story descriptions will take away from the script, then by all means include them seperately...

As aforementioned, you will not be graded on format or style. Everything comes down to the content, and the way it comes across...

I'm ready for more Q&A! Any other contest inquiries? :)

The ANNOYING GuRl is back with her ANNOYING questions .. =P

Ok .. as I remember you said that the story shouldn't have a
dialoug (the talking between 2 or more people) ..

Is it ok to have few ones .. ?

    Example ..

He was walking in the road and said to his friend:
    Are you okay?
He said: yes I am ..
    He1: blah blah blah
    He2: blah blah blah
    He1: blah blah blah
    He2: blah blah blah
Then they go to the cafe and sit and wait .. blah blah blah

What I mean is; is it ok to post few chatting between 2 or more
people, but it wont steel the SHOW .. ??!

*Are you getting what I mean :sweat2:?*

    Sure, I follow you...

...but I think you may have misread me above. I meant to not to forget to describe characters and places in addition to your dialogue.

As most scripts go, I would expect most submissions to be 80-90% dialogue between characters... I mean, look at most anime or manga as an example. Very little stories can get by without character interaction, and dialogue is the main method.

Sooo, include all the dialogue you need - no restrictions there! I was just reminding you not to leave out other details...

Just to make a point, the less cliché the script is, the better for the contestant, right?

And, I'm not sure if I misinterpretted (sp?), but did you say that it doesn't HAVE to be in the form of a script? (I just need to hear you say yes or no to make me feel secure…<no questions, please> :sweat2: ^_^)

In answer to the first, yes...one of the evaluation categories will be originality. :)

And for the second, to reassure you once again...Yes. :)

Well, the thing is...um I'm already finished. So should I include scans of characters? I guess I'm putting the character descriptions separate too. I guess now, all I'm really gonna do is perfect it. So, when do we start sending things in?
