Art Art question

I have a question about inking.

What do you use to ink. As in making it darker so when you use photoshop it doesn't look like crap.

Is it just a normal fine black marker or is there something special? Or do people just use photoshop?

Also does everyone just copy the image so it doesn't ruin? As use trace paper?

 

I pretty much only ink in photoshop using my mouse and the pen tool. It takes me forever to ink that way though.
