    Finally!

Starting next month, "Battle of the Planets" will air on Boomerang. This will be the first time the show will be on TV in 20 years.

The exact date of the first episode has not been announced, but when it is, I'll post it here.

Do you know if they are only airing the 85 Sandy Frank eps ? Or are there new eps ?? I recall seeing an email,by Eagleclaw, saying Sandy Frank has come up with 20 more eps and that he would air the 35 original eps that he didn't get to air 20 yrs. ago ????? That would be awesome !!!!

They follow the same storyline and have the basic same characters with name changes for everyone. BotP is more famous because it was the first translation. It is also more edited and has the addition of 7-Zark-7, a robot who explains what is happening rather than expose children to what was considered senseless violence. To find out more, try this site, here . She has information on all of the various versions along with a wonderful humor section. Hope this helps!

Sandy Frank brought it here and called it BotP. He added the robot to cut out violent parts that (at that time) were'nt suitable for American audiences.

Ted Turner bought it from Sandy Frank and called it G-Force Guardians of Space (Mr. Frank wouldn't allow the use of his robot character or the names of his team characters).

Saban Entertainment brought the Eagle Riders version to the U.S.,which was a combined version of Gatchaman II and Gatchaman Fighter. (totally flopped)

And then there came the '94 OVA's............

Hope this helps. (hope it's not TOO much info.)

Now all I have to do is berate my cable company into carrying Boomerang and I'll be all set. BOTP was one of the first anime (or anime-derived shows) I saw as a child.

    Damn I'm old :)

    LOL

I'm right up there with you, partner. I was around when Speed Racer,Botp,Robotech,Astro Boy,Ultraman,Godzilla, etc. etc. etc. was on air.
    I AM SOOOOOO OLD.
Does anyone here remember a show with a human kid who befriends a family of robots from space ???? The robots were Goldar (father),Silvar (mother),and Gam (the child robot) ????? I can not remember the name of that show. And wasn't it Ultraman with the Japanese guy named George ????

Or am I older than I think ?????
    LOL

    Space Giants

    G-fan,

Whistle once for Gam, twice for Silvar, and thrice for Goldar.

The show you are referring to is called "Space Giants".

I know there are sellers on Ebay that sell homebrew DVD's with episodes, some even uncut.
