Beastie Boys new logo

    I notice the new Beastie Boys album uses the same "Tomita"/Sinaloa typeface in a sort of hand rendered look as the band's new logo.

    Yeah I noticed that! I assume it's just coincidence (that they are not fans).

    Hard to rule that out completely. After all they directly parodied the cover of Perrey and Kingsley's "The In Sound from Way Out" for their album. But the new cover has no direct Tomita connection --- other than that view is pretty much exactly where he held his 1986 "Back to the Earth" concert. Though the extensive advertising for that show didn't use that typeface.
