Music Black/Death Metal

Well, albeit I have created a bunch of band threads that got 0 posts(The Kovenant, Type O Negative, and Primus, just to name a few...or maybe them all. I don't remember), I decided to start a thread about something I like, yet I tried to be more broad...I bet I would've gotten 0 posts if I created a Dimmu Borgir or Cannibal Corpse thread...

Anyways...c'mon. There has to be someone on this forum that likes this music other than me.

 

OMG!! I do. . .i have never seen any of your music posts before, other wise i would have responded! Dimmu Borgir is my favorit black metal group (my fav song of theirs is prolly Burn in hell) same with the Kovenant! And i thought i was the only one. . .^^;;

Do you like other death metal bands like. . .Cradle of Filth, Lamb of God, Arch Enemy, Moonspell, meshugga, Devildriver? . . . .and oh soo many others! :anime:


Well its nice to know that there is some one else who listens to music like me! ^^

 

Usually when I start asking these questions I get beaten, but I'll ask anyway.
What is black/death metal? I know I've asked Dr. Nick before and he couldn't tell me, so maybe someone else could?

 

erm. . .its kinda hard to explain but i will try my best. Normally the groups are Satinists.

Death metal, is like heavy metal, but heavier.-_-;;; if that makes sense . .normally they include awsome guitar parts and a kick @ss double bass. The music is on Dark subjects ussually like death, hell, killing ect. . . .but do sometimes cover subjects like lieing or betrail.

Black metal is described as Death metal with more "show". Like Dimmu Borgir, for instance, they use symphany music in there songs to get more of a gothic type feel. Their concerts have more show, with flames and lights and the whole sha-bang.

Does that answer you question. . .cuz think thats as good as i can explain it. . ^^;; you really would have to hear some of the songs for your self, to really know what i am talking about.

Cradle Of Filth = Good black metal
Lamb of God = Good thrash metal
Arch Enemy = Good death metal
Moonspell = Good death metal
Meshuggah = good death metal
Devildriver = OK metal

 

Heh. Well, Death metal has like vocals like Cookie Monster is singing. That's...probably the best to describe it. And Black metal is like a melodic Cookie Monster singing.

It is arguable that Meshuggah is "Progressive" Death metal due to the use of Polyrhythms and odd time signatures. I just wanted to be a little more descriptive. Moonspell is Goth/Death if you really want to be picky. Devil Driver is Abominable metal.

Abominable as in a disgusting :catgirl: band. They are :bleed2: horrible :glazed: and were horrible in the live video i saw tehm in.

Do any of you listen to Inflames, Killswitch Engaged or Soilwork? They are heavy metal rather than death metal, but i think they're pretty sweet.

And a kinda funny question. . .i am sure you have probably heard some HIM songs. . .what would you consider them. . .Love metal? ^^;;

 

In Flames and Soilwork are Melodic death metal--and two of my favorite bands. Killswitch Engage is alright, but there are a lot better music out there.

And I've never heard of HIM...but I have heard of HIMSA..

 

i have heard of HIMSA too. But HIM. . .stands for His Infernal Majesty. They are like death metal . . .but allways sing about love. :dizzy2:

Hey, ever heard of Death(don't get much more overt than that)?

 

My sources have just revealed to me that At The Gates was a death metal band. So I guess I have to officially say that death metal can be pretty good.
