Art Emily, with pigtails

I did the penciling for this drawing on the plane from Washington to Hawaii two Spring Breaks ago (at the time I was going to PLU in Tacoma for college, but now I go to UHM in Hawaii). I named her Emily, after the daughter of the man who sat next to me on the plane (probably cuz he started to talk to me about my drawings). There's no resemblance to his daughter; I just named her that cuz of them, maybe as a tribute. I colored it using PaintShopPro.

maybe what a littlebit caught my eye is that the hands don't have any muscles? theyre like staright lines i guess... no offence though, all'n all its a really good pic.

I like her face and her eyes a lot, they have a very sweet expression. She's a cute girl! Maybe its just me though, but her arms seem a little too skinny for her body. Then again I've been told I make some of my limbs (or neck) to big for anime charaters. But over all its very nice. The hair is done well too!

Thanks everyone. When I show the original, uncolored version to people, lots of people like it compared to the rest of my drawings. I think it must be the pigtails and innocent expression; and it's always girls who admit she's cute. I don't think I ever drew eyes like hers again. (Anyway I always slightly change the way I draw eyes.)

Yeah, the arms don't have muscles because she's young and weak (thus she's skinny). But I like skinny girls anyway. Furthermore, her arms are pushed against her body so they are just slightly squished skinnier.

I used a regular mechanical pencil to draw it, but I colored it digitally using a program. I left the pencil textures--I didn't smooth them out.

No, she's not based on anyone. It's just her name that is based on a real girl. I don't wanna smooth out her shadows! (On her shirt/top you mean?) I'd rather just leave it.
