Recca's fight against Fuko continues, until she is eventually trapped in a tornado of her own waking. After a number of attempts by friend Ishijima Domon to rescue Fuko from the tornado, Recca figures out in can be breached from above. Fuko's trance can only be broken by smashing a crystal on the Fujin, and Recca enters the tornado and accomplishes this. Kage Houshi is satisfied with the fighting skills of Recca, Fuko and Domon, and tells them that she is an immortal who saved Recca's life, sending him 400 years from the past to the present using the techniques of the Hokage ninjas. She vanishes, but later appears to trick another youth, Tokiya, into thinking that Recca is somehow linked to the death of Tokiya's sister seven years previously. Tokiya is also in possession of a Hokage weapon, the Ensui, which he uses to control water in a fight against Recca's Flame.
