I received a fax from the London Philharmonic
    Orhestra.
They told me that they had planned a recording
    session with mr. Tomita.
The purpose from this concert was to make a CD and
    a DVD.
I mailed them today to ask if this concert had
    already took place.

When I here from them I will let you
    know.

there are a bunch of online shops

    http://www.mediawars.or.jp/~mundo/cdjapan/link.html
probably more on the John/Ben links page!

but it is a little interesting in not a good way. The place I usually
check to figure oiut whats in
print in Japan, cdbanzai.com, seems to be missing most of the BMG
releases, which basically means they are
withdrawing them for some reason. Now this may mean they are in the
process of re-issuing them, but then again maybe they are withdrawing
them. This is reinforced by cdeurope.com, who I don't find that reliable
a source of Japanese listings... only that they used to have Bach
Fantasy. Both have the Genji live album and other non-USA items.

I'd just try to have someone who can order it order it by cat#.

its true that your average Amazon Boulevard dot com type place isn't
going to handle many Japanese CDs, probably because there isn't enough
    money in it.

If you posess that catalog number or a helpful employee with the
refrence book, most big cities have a Japanese bookstore or 2 with CDs.
    These shops can order CDs.

    Though I haven't tried it
    http://www.towerrecords.co.jp
and maybe other Japanese megastores have on line mail order for overseas customers

Yes, the London sessions were finished the last week of October 1999.

Now Mr. Tomita will record the traditional Japanese soloists in Japan in
the coming months while also overdubbing the synths parts presumably at
his studio. He will finish sometime next year but he will likely hold
the relaese some months after that for proper publicity and market timing.

The live recording which was released in limited quatities has recording
and performance flaws that Mr. Tomita and others are not happy with.

Please do not take this as an official announcement or final info. This
is just my understanding from talking with Mr. Tomita and his assistant
    Ms. Makita last week.

    -----------

from a friend who gets the new release bullitins from Japan:

3 of Hideki Matsutake's pre-Logic System albums will get their AFAIK
    first CD reissue next month

    FANTASY 'INVITATION TO STARS' (1979)
    SPACE CYCLE (probably late 70s)
    SPACE BOLERO

    They definitely contain synth covers.
At least some of the tracks are classical.
Matsutake-san was Tomita-san's sequencer programmer in the 70s.
He owns a Moog IIIc and a large E-mu modular and is THE master of the
    MC-8 sequencer
You can see and hear him during the earlier half of YMO's career.

I'll have more info soon. I definitely want these discs
