Lol, they call them Seabees in the Navy- Construction workers than happen to blow a few things up. You'll be busy, no doubt about that.

Ready to go to Iraq? Or mebbe Afghanistan? Keep your wits about you now. The last thing we need is to lose a member to 5.45x39 or an IED.

heh. Well i'm still looking into it. but thats what i reserved. If something else strikes my interest i'm going to go for it. Especially if it has a higher sign bonus.

I just want to blow some **** up >.>

Whoa there amigo, there's something you need to know.

There's a reason why they have these things called "Enlistment Bonuses".

When quotas are low and they need people to fill a job or a position they sweeten the pot by adding this enlistment bonus. There are various reasons why they need bodies, but the top reason is the job blows and they have a low retention rate. Another is that the job has hot skills in the civilian world and folks simply move from the lower paying Military job to a higher value civilian job. My line of work was unique in that the BOTH of those reasons walked hand in hand and led to a mass exodus of nukes leaving the Navy. Our SRBs (Selective Re-Enlistment Bonuses) were as high as $95,000.

Understand that if the military is offering you an enlistment bonus for your rate it's because they need bodies there, which means they aren't retaining. Why? Well, you may never truly know until you're stuck with it. Recruiters will always place a good spin on it because they want you to stay in. It's their job. I wouldn't trust them to fill you in on many, if any, of the bad points about the military. Just remember that if it really does blow, well don't say no one told you. Buyer Beware my friend.

Best of luck now. When do you leave?

Well considering meps F*cked my stuff up and my recruiter never got some things through. I decided i'm changing my mos. so instead of being a combat engineer i relooked at my offers and 1 showed up that seem to be very nice in my eyes.

That was EOD specialist ;o bomb disposal basically. about 6 months worth of training and only 2 slots open for it with top secret clearence. ;o So that looked pretty sweet and the enlistment bonus was 15,000 but since i was talking to my dad I reserved a different type of mos.

Patriot launching station enhanced operator/ maintainer. I have secret clearence as well as a whopping 40,000 sign in bonus for 4 years and I get to choose my first base after AIT which holds Korea, Germany and Japan as oversees bases and a handful in the U.S. :O Guess where my happy go lucky ass is going to request.

I always wanted to feel the tallest in the street :p

I ship out with my new mos in about a week instead of previous which was this thursday so. i'm gone next thursday with more cash and not being a bullet stopper. as my dad says. IN the back with the equipment.

I still kinda want EOD just cause of the Top secret clearence but I'll test the military out with the Patriot job which to me is a hella better sweet gig. Still i feel kinda privilaged to be offered EOD

The patriot from my understanding basically hangs back where it's "secure" and takes down incoming missles.

I think quite an upgrade don't you weretitis?

Also my basic is going to be in sill oklahoma and my AIT is going to be in Bliss Texas. So basically i'm where their is plenty of nice looking country girls ;)

EOD- Explosive Ordinance Disposal. Bomb boys, yeah, right on the money. They're like the Seals.

Patriot Launch Station Operator? 40,000 sign on? Jesus! That's 20 thousand up front and 5 thousand every October until your enlistment expires. I know virtually nothing about that field. The sign on bonus raises a red flag with me, but hey, it's your life. Combat Eng and EOD? Patriot should be cake compared to either of them. Less boom boom bang bang and more wrench turning and missile launching. Your Dad has the right idea. No reason to be bullet bag when you got plenty of bloodthirsty kids to do it for you.

Now lemme tell you something about 'Country Girls'...
