    Hello All,

I'm new to this mailing list so apologies for the newbie question, but I've
been waiting for YEARS to know what the segments of computer data on 'The
Bermuda Triangle' translate to when decoded. Anyone ? Aside from the
sleevenotes, I've never even heard of the TARBEL system - presumably an
early operating system of some kind ?

By way of introduction, I've been a fan of Tomita's music since 'The
Planets' (I bought a copy just as it was being recalled from UK shops !) but
lost sight of his albums after 'Live At Linz'. Try as I might, I have been
unable to track down CDs for 'The Bermuda Triangle', 'Daphnis and Chloe' (or
'Bolero') and 'Grand Canyon Suite' (although I recently spent an exorbitant
amount of money for the Kodo/Tomita 'Nasca Fantasy').
Could anyone please advise where I could find such items (even friends in
the US seem to find it difficult to locate these gems !) ?

    Regards,

    Ivor.

its encoding text data as an audio signal for storage, like people with
home computers did in the early 80s when people used audio cassettes to
store short programs... only even older.

John Breslin and Ben Ward's site has a lot of info on some of the
    details on Tomita's albums

Shouldn't be hard to find "Back to the Earth" though its probably out of
print, thats an album after "Live at Linz". 'Nasca Fantasy' came out in
the U.S. (=cheaply priced) but a lot of people missed it since it was
    filed under Kodo not Tomita.

'The Bermuda Triangle', 'Daphnis and Chloe' (or 'Bolero') and 'Grand
Canyon Suite', 'Dawn Chorus' ("Canon of the 3 Stars") never were
released in the U.S. on CD although someone was selling what might have
been a test pressing of the later on EBay

They were apparently all out in Europe a while back but are now long
    gone.

The unfortunate thing is that all his classical albums were in stock in
Japan up until 1998 or so. Now the problem is they are still in better
stocked brick and mortar stores in Japan, but the places that do mail
order tend to order CDs directly as a customer orders, and they can't be
ordered from the distributer anymore, so everyone has to go hunting
around. And its tough since real shops don't tend to be on the web and
the megastores like tower don't let you order an older CD that might
still be on the shelves of some of their stores

    http://www.mediawars.ne.jp/~mundo/collect/file/t-isao.html
    seems to have a couple

If you have friends in Tokyo, Yamano a big well know shop in the Ginza
has all the classical albums as of 11/00, I always go there just because
if I decide I want a particular one, I know they have it. Don't bother
with HMV, Tower, etc. they are sold out or have the loose 2 or 3 you
    aren't after.

What is it called Isemaru Denki?, anyway the huge shop in Akihabara with
at least 10 buildings seemed to have most or all of them and a computer
system to figure out which of their 3 stores has a given CD. Its not a
fun place to browse but they seem to have several hundred thousand CDs.

Japanese prices are like $23 each but the postage can easily run $12 if
you coax someone to buy one

The soundtracks, some of which are all synth music are a different deal,
you have to take them on a case by case basis
