I harbor much hate for that buffoon. What do you think of Hilary Duff? I strongly believe she is a fat, ugly, wannabe elementary-school rip-off of Britney Spears. -_-

Go ahead and attack meh. But beware... I bite.

Oh, I can end this REAL quick...

Each and everyone moronic little 'pop star' is nothing more than an over-rated, brain-dead, pampered, loser of a twit that lacks any true, remote, miniscule microcosm of skill. They are the monstrosities of the human race and the world would be a better place if they were all sentenced to die a very painful, very gruesome death, broadcasted live on television so then everyone gets their wish; we get to see them die and the little prisses and *****s can go out being on TV.

[EDIT] Pretty much I agree with Ark, this ISN'T a Debate topic, really... I just really needed to vent that. Anyways... yeah. [/EDIT]

Eh, I don't really see anything here to debate. I'm gonna close this topic tomorrow if I haven't seen any reason not to by then.

Well, at first I posted it in music... but then realized it would turn into more of an argument... so yah. It should be, "What do you think of Hilary Duff?" *shrug*

However, Amon, you've started a new debate, my friend. xD

That's an incredibly stereotypical, narrow-minded, ignorant generalization (I realize that was a bit redundant xD). First off, what do you call a "Pop Star"? Pop is what's currently popular, and isn't a defined set of people. Who do you listen to? They could be all considered pop. And everyone does not want to see them dead, or die painfully- that's why they're pop. You can't judge someone by the color of their skin, yet here you are, judging them on the basis of thier profession?

Okay, I agree with Ark that the *original* post is pretty lame, but Amon brought up some stuff that I think is worth talking about.

Explain. A 'pop star' is simply anyone who is popular at the moment in time. The Beatles were pop stars; so was/is Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix, David Bowie, Sting, etc. I'm sure you're specifically referring to extremely young (Under 20), female singers who don't write their own material, but in the future you should be more careful with your labels.

Wrong. Even if you discount my above point and refer to people who are interested in nothing more than entertainment, they can still be talented. Michael Jackson is a disgusting human being, but many of his songs of the early '80s are irresistably fun. Madonna is little more than an annoyance today, but two decades ago children and adults alike were all clamoring for her albums. Prince can be an arrogant idiot, but some of his guitar solos are as well known as those of metal heads. Just because the media chooses to make these people mega-stars known around the world doesn't mean that they can't be able to sing or play instruments.

    .

I know you were being sarcastic, so I'll just say that I got a chuckle out of that. :)

Our posts were made four minutes apart; I was still typing mine when you posted yours and therefore didn't see it until mine was posted as well.

    This is fat and ugly?

Wow, I sure am glad your opinion of a musician is influenced solely by their music...[/Pure undying sarcasm]

Anyway, yeah, she's poppish, but she hasn't done anything I find terribly annoying... so... *pshrug*

Compared to what she claims to be, quite.
Her attitude is what bothers me. She's so... full of herself.

And her music is, in my opinion, rather unoriginal, and fake. She dosen't sing all that great either... she's just making noise, not putting real emotion into her work. I know so many people who could do much better. She dosen't deserve that lucky chance she got.

    So let's see...
    Incredible Talent: No.
    Incredible Looks: No.
    Incredible Lyrics: No.

    Do I see a pattern?

I personaly, dislike the more popular pop music, however I do like some, mostly j pop and tatu. But I do like certain songs from films such as the kiddie films. But I mostly like rock music, not to heavy tho, like evanescence (can never spell it). But I really dislike Hillary Duff, and most of the other ones, because they have shaped what people see *** the perfect woman, or for boy bands, the perfect man. I dont follow that I love sleek men ^_^. But Hillary in that picture looks like her face was squished a little, she is moderatly pretty however.

    Alright, here we go.

First, Hilary Duff is NOWHERE near "perfect woman". In fact, I seriously say part of her appeal is that she's NOT perfect. Her body isn't say: [IMG]

Like Mz. Tyra Banks there. It's more of something you'd see in a high-school where you see a bit beyond average body.

What makes Mz. Duff sexy is her confidence. She's confident that she's hot. That's what's sexy about her. And, she DOES have make-up artists and what not.

As far as her music goes? You DO all know that Brian Austin Green DID do a rap album, right? A GANGSTA rap album? No? Well, he went back to acting right after that.

Duff isn't so good a singing talent that she'll be on broadway doing musicals when her pop career is over, but at least she's got hit songs. And earns money from them. I'm sure the majority of M2A does that too. /sarcasm.

Now, the whole lot of you may not like "pop stars", but, I can almost guarantee that half of the lot of you STILL listen to Hilary Duff ANYWAY.

    Oh, UFOtaku...'great' comparison.

Britney Spears and Hilary Duff. /sarcasm.

Don't scorn them because they earn money or they have looks which we don't. That's called jealousy. It's a sin.

*snork* If you think she's bad, I'm sure there are a lot of M2A vets around who can confirm I've been much worse.

*shrugs* Things haven't ended yet. In a few years she'll probably be stuck doing porn for a living, do YOU want the same "lucky" chance?

I suppose if the Hilary Duff dynasty had been going for years, I'd feel sympathetic, but there are a LOT of flash-in-the-pan artists out there who die out soon enough. Anyone remember New Kids on the Block?

I know she isnt perfect, I know everyone has their own veiw of perfect. Thats what I was getting at. Besides I dont like the pop stars because I feel threatened by the way they look and the way everyone stares at them, makes me feel like a right ugly prune :(

If you have to ask by who I mean by pop stars, then you will never know. :) I am more than sure that it was beyond obvious in which category of people I was referencing and if you could not see that, then poor you. :)

And, UFOtaku... Nowadays I namely listen to Sonic Youth, The Flaming Lips, Tsunami Bomb, Pearl Jam, Alice In Chains and (involuntarily, to an extent) Slipknot, Dropkick Murphys, Rammstein and Wilco (It gets easier and easier to block out my sister's Good Charlotte and Eminem, however).

[EDIT] And, yes Neph, I do remember New Kids On The Block... they've all become actors now. ;_; *sobs in the horror of what's to come* [/EDIT]

How many M2A members are singers/actresses? How many of them vent publicly?

If I got the same "lucky chance", who said I'd have to do what she did, and that I'd be like her? A chance dosen't guarantee a good ending, nor a bad one.

I can still drag up worse examples. For example, Bjork attacked some reporter who simply said hello. Do I care? No, I listen to her for her music, not her "everything is music, when I go home I toss nickles in the oven and its music" insanity.

Y'know at one time I really wanted to be a famous actor. I really did. But if someone is defining their life based on the money they pull in and the recognition of people who don't even really know them thats not good. You should be happy doing whatever you are doing, even if its not going to pull in tons of kisses on your butt.

So theres more talented people out there. So what? Life isn't fair. Thems the breaks.

ok i have never even heard of hilary duff before, but the whole "all female pop stars must look like twisted barbies" thing really p*sses me off.
and what annoys me even more is that these aforesaid female pop stars then believe this themselves, so they pump themselves full of botox (can't spell) and fill their anatomy with large chunks of god knows what. :anger2:
None of you so far have said what her voice is like - shouldn't that be the main point of a singer?
You've said she has no talent - as compared to who? i can think of many, many talentless people who seem to be soaring up the charts right now.

but like i said, i've never heard of her before.

Hilary Duff, meh, never really much liked her, but I don't harbor any extreme desire for her death either. Actually it wasn't really her I disliked, it was that awful "Lizzie Mc Guire" character, and I shuddered to think that she'd be branching out to music.

No, she doesn't have an incredible singing voice, and no, she certainly isn't "perfect". But if you don't like her, then don't buy her albums. It's as simple as that. She's not really making any sort of impact on my life, so I really have no reason to hate her.

But yea, I'd have to agree that her attitude and charm seems sort of "fake", but so do those of numerous famous actor/singers. Not really any of my concern.

Overall: She's a singer. Granted, not an excellent singer, but eventually people will stop buying her music and she'll become a washed up has-been like most other pop singers (not to say that there aren't SOME pop singers live on, but let's face it, the majority are never thought of again).

I think Hillary Duff should just go back to acting. Her singing SUCKS!!! My friend thinks she the best, and I dont see how anyone could. She sings like any other normal person. LIke avril. gag me with a spoon. I thought her acting with Disney was a lot better then singing solo. Maybe she could join the backstreet boys...down the toilet. :anger2:
