Secret of Evermore? There's a really big marketplace area halfway through the game that's really fun because you have to barter and trade items instead of gold.

 

If it played a little like Secret of Mana, then it is, in fact, your game.

So, did it play a bit like an action RPG?

The reason I also said Evermore really fast is that it's one of the cooler Marketplace things you find in the SNES era.

 

Nothing much, really. Storyline is kinda cool, since it plays out very much like what the synopsis is. Just imagine you, as a b-movie buff, gets stuck in an adventure that pretty much encompasses many b-movie themes.

On the plus side, it's made with the same engine as the Secret of Mana series, but made by Square USA.

Cecil Harvey from Final Fantasy II (V) does also make an appearance as a lowly weapon shop owner.

Again though, it has one of the funnest marketplace areas ever in gamedom. Probably because you have to barter for stuff, instead of killing enough monsters to buy everything. And by bartering, I mean, unless you have everything catalogued, you may and will miss out on great items.

i remember the chess stuff being a pain in the ass. need to steal from my parents and play it again. =p the item stuff was fun i thought. =3
