As of now, there is a new promotion in place for our standard users. After gaining enough prestige, having been here long enough, and contributed in your share of discussions, you will move up in the world from a Registered User to a Power User. This new group contains a few extra touches as a reward for being a valuable member of the community, including a larger private message box and the ability to modify your custom user title.

So, how do you aim to be a Power User? Meet three requirements:

Stick around for 60 days - This one's easy enough. 100 days after you've registered, you meet this requirement. Basically, our Power Users need to be those that haven't just joined in passing.

Make 150 posts - Of course, just sticking around for that time means nothing, if you don't participate. Join in some discussions or start your own - after all, that's what M2A is all about!

Earn 30 good reputation points - Perhaps the biggest requirement, but the most important. The team and your peers can assign you positive or negative karma towards your posts on the boards. Our Power Users are those who are on a distinguished path and have set good examples across the board, or perhaps introduced some excellent topics.

There you have it. Something to shoot for and be rewarded with. Have fun. :)

Just click the UserCP tab. It's gonna be at the bottom, showing the last 5 times you were given karma of any kind.

Although, I REALLY doubt my ability to be able to hit Power User. Heh, I've only got so many reputation points with my near infinite post count (as close as 2k gets, anyway), but I guess this is a really good way to get the system going.

Hrm sounds good; the good reputation point requirement seems a bit high though; I've gotten quite a bit of good karma and I still have only 55 points... though I attribute this to a lot of peoples karma not "counting" for whatever reason.

It will pick up as more high karma individuals come about. Karma counts only when you've gained enough reputation yourself, and the more you gain, the mor epowerful your influence is. I will consider dropping this after time, if I still feel the reputations are not increasing at a plausible speed.

From the short time I've been here, I've noticed that many people don't tend to even USE the rep. points, but maybe this'll be some kind of incentive to start.

    Anyway, sounds good!

Dropped the reputation points required to 50 after a little prodding in various directions. ;)

Well i have a 1000 some posts and only 18 karma points. even though i karma like crazy and are constantly clicking for other people i get stuck without this feature. I know many not-so-n00bs that do not know how to get karma. This information needs to be given to ever n00b.

    red = badness

as in, you made a horrible post or something like that and someone flagged you for it. i almost think red might be a mod or something and average users are grey...as far as bad karma goes...

It takes so long to achieve a change in karma becuase no-one cares right.

so assume I actually meet requirements (not gonna happen soon, 70 posts and -1 karma  I guess i just annoy people) what happens if my karma drops again, do I lose the status?

i see, so green = good, red = bad, gray = nothing, they dont count.

it appears that if you dont leave a message when you give karma, your point goes as gray...

i just thought of something else, if you become a power user, and then your karma drops below 50...you loose your rank?

I thought red was bad and then green was good and grey was when one person gave you bad and another gave you good and they cancelled each other out

Grey Karma comes from people with no karma weighting. Whether you give good or bad karma, if your karma weighting is 0 it will be 'null' (or grey, in this case :p).

The concept of Karma Weighting is explained here.
