Avid Karma-handing members may have noticed things have changed up a bit in the past week. Some small adjustments were made to the system in response to reports of karma abuse. The following changes are now in place:

    • Maximum karma handouts/day reduced from 10 to 5
    • Spread requirement increased somewhat (spread is the requirement to give karma to different members before being allowed to give karma to the same person again)

Please continue to bear in mind that karma should not be taken too seriously. This does not mean that karma handouts should not be given without thought, however. Positive karma should be saved for postings that are good contributions, and negative karma saved for extreme examples of poor posting.

Everyone receives bad karma at one time or another - it is important not to take it personally. Examine your posting and try to understand why the person felt it was lacking and make a conscious effort to learn from it.

Finally, remember that the system is trusted to be used properly. If members abuse it for vendettas or personal gain in some way, it may be disabled in the future.

Thanks for reading, and continue to spread karma responsibly and deservingly! ^^
