yes, i watch the news, and yes, i pay far too much attention to murders in the news. criminal profiling is just a neat thing to me. i'm wierd. =p

i wish more info was released, but since it's still on-going, i'll have patience.

i can see this as being a good topic to discuss this case and prevention methods. they even covered a couple in the covereage on tv the past week.

normal and basic advice (from a list from the book Serial Killers - ISBN: 0-425-19640-2)
fight for your life. scream your head off, mace them if you can, claw, bite, kick, use your keys, whatever you can. most cases involve you becoming dead afterwards, so this is important.
    ----------

alot of people take their keys out at the last minute; walk with them out.
    paranoia is a good thing.
you can go back into the store and ask for an escort if you don't feel safe. especially at night. it's their responsibility to make sure everyone in their store gets to their cars and leaves ok.
trust your instinct. if someone just gives you a really bad vib, or creeps you out, go back inside. call a friend to come get you, and stay somewhere visible to a camera or other employees. find a manager/employee if you really think you should.
don't feel bad about turning down help to people that seem slightly suspicious. your instinct have a very high chance of saving your life. (ted bundy pretended to have a broken arm, cast and all, to lure girls to help him load his books from college into his car, where he then knocked them unconscious. a very large vast majority fell for this and wound up raped and killed.)

women and children do not mean you're safe. they can be and have been used to lure you into a false sense of security.

First off how can I say anything but tragic?

It goes to show how messed up the world is.

But besides that prevention is important.

Sometimes it is hard to react when you are scared but think of this- It is your life fight for it. If you want to still dream, breath, grow, or etc. fight.

There is also the possiblity of getting knocked out but before that don't stop fighting.

The barbie and ken murders are hard to imagine. The movie Karla was about her. Some people should check it out.

    Some preventions I learned are:

-Go out with a group of people it is harder to get lost. Do a head count. It might seam werid but my friend did this on my bday and we were all safe.
-Go out with people you trust. People you know that won't let you get hurt. People who won't ditch you.
-Don't leave the group with people you just meant. Remeber Hostle 2? It isn't real but it could happen.

daylight doesn't mean you're safe. to keep on with ted, he used a park during a police convention, a college campus. day light doesn't affect people like that cause they've thought it through and have an idea of how it's going to go down.
pretty much, you have until you are truly abducted to do something to save your life, like before you are bound. once you're out or tied up, your chances to live are no longer in your control.

This is a really sad event.
Its so sad that people are able to do things like this in a public place, and get away with it.( Untill later )

The whole him having a myspace.. I wonder if thats how he found his victim, or if this was more of a random killing.
