Creative Writing Killing Earth

What if I said the sky was to turn red,
And all life as we knew it was dead?
What if the poor had beach front property,
And all the rich were washed into the sea?
What if all places green withered and paled,
And harvests all over the world failed?
Would you scowl at millions dead?
Cry at the loss of places so sacred?
Bewildered by our planet’s own fate
Do you really think we’d reach heaven’s gate?
This planet we cling on, and “know so well”
Should become our own man made hell?
Would this horrible truth make you sit and cry?
Would this horrible truth make you want to die?
Push away god and politics, science is real,
Or would you rather continue to steal
The future for your children, for you and me
Half of all species would no longer be
So take it all, give in to your greed
Cut down the forest, destroy tomorrow’s seed
Cut deep into the earth and steal it’s blood
Torrent of material goods, a wasteful flood
When carbon dioxide has filled the air
When will we finally care?
