How many people here know l337, I'm kinda new at useing it myself lol I only know a few things F33l /\/\y l337 ^_^

 

i have no clue how to do it they tried to explain once but it just went right over my head :dizzy2: oh well

 

I've had it explained breifly but I thought if I posted a thread about it I was bound to pick it up lol

I learned 1337 myself, it reall isn't hard to pick up. You can make up a lot of it yourself.

I think that I can sort of teach l337 (elite). First of all l337 is pretty much just using symbols and numbers to create letters and you can put these letters together to make words... it's kind of a code used by hackers.

well I might as well start off with some letters... and you can use other symbols or number to create these letters as well.
4 = A
|3 = B
( or < = C
| ) = D
3 = E
F ... well you can use |=, but it's easier just to use f
& = G
|-| = H
| or 1 or ! = I
J , methinks I've seen "?" used for this
|< = K
|_ = L
|\/| =M
0 or () = O
|* = P or you could just use p
@ = Q
|? = R
$ = S
7 = T
|_| = U
\/ (\ and /) = V
\/\/ = W
>< = X
j is usually used as Y
Z... well I've only seen Z used for it... unless you can use and underlined 7

These are just some of the symbols you can use but if anyone has any others then say so. Oh yeah, sometimes just to make the work look better you can use normal letters.

Well that wouldn't be very civil. 1337 is okay in small doses, I reckon.
Other stuff to look out for is sometimes words are spelt differently. For example 73|-| (teh) instead of the, /\/\3|-| (meh) instead of me or my, or |^0)(0|^ (roxor) instead of rocks. You can stick 0|^ on the end of anything. For example, |*\/\/|\|z0|^z (pwnzorz) or 5(_))((_)|^z (suxurs). Some times 0\/\/|\|3|) (owned), which is a commen word in 1337 is spelt with a |* (p). Don't ask me why.

I loves l337! I knew about it before, but what really got me into it was www.megatokyo.com about...2 years ago!

 

I have no clue why they called it l337, well I know it is supposed to sound like "elite" though, but I think it was just a code used by hackers so they could talk in chat rooms and people wouldn't know what they are up to (like when they are hacking into a person's computer...). And it would be kind of freaky if a person came up on icq and started to talk to you in l337 while they were hacking into your computer and you didn't know what they were saying...
