    ...::Lesson One: Greetings::...

Im going to set you off first with simple greetings, because its probably most used.

Hello - Hallo (Ha - Low)
    Guten Tag (Goot-en Tahg)

Good Bye - Auf Wiedersehen! (Owf Vee-der-say-hen) <with auf wiedersehen a more
informal way is just to say wiedersehen>

    Ill write more later!
Tschüs (Choos) a bit of an imforal way along with it

I took German in the sixth grade, but forgot most of it... now the extensive-ness of my German speaking is about limited to the words "Mein Kampf" :p

The following might be wrong, as it's been so long (like, six years :p).. and I'll probably spell 'em wrong...

    Guten Morgen (Good Morning)

    Guten Nacht (Good Night)

Nein (No, and I think it's also Zero/0).

I'm trying to remember the numbers. Damn. I used to be really good at it, even though I failed the class horribly (I'm one of those kids that just doesn't do the work even though if he tried could probably pass with flying colors ;P Damn being lazy. DAMN YOU, SLOTH!).

Ok, for the most part Amon Sena you got it right, but Nein does not mean zero.
So I will run over the Numbers

    0 Null (newl)
    1 Ein (ayn)
    2 Zwei (svy)
    3 Drei (dry)
    4 Vier (Fear)
5 Fünf (foonf) <make sure you really pucker up on the u so its like a moo>
    6 sechs (zakes)
    7 seiben (zee-ben)
    8 acht (akt)
9 nuen (like nine but make the i into an oy)
    10 zehn (zane)
    11 elf (elf)
    12 zwölf (zwolf)
    13 dreizehn (dryzane)
    14 veirzehn (fearzane)
    15 fünfzehn (foonfzehn)

basically with 13 - 19 you just take the number and add a zehn!
I feel like a elementary school teacher! be good my precious little atkins approved muffins!

CB, looks like you have this under control! If you ever need it I'll be happy to lend a hand.

And now, the obligatory line to prove that I really can speak German:

German? There is someone in this world who wants to learn German o_O
*falls from her chair ind disbelief*

I definately have to keep a look at this thread just to see how hard German is if you don't study it as your Native Language like me. Oh... and I have found some mistakes in the numbers... *draws red pen*

    1 Eins (ayns)
    7 sieben (zee-ben)
9 neun (like nine but make the i into an oy)
    14 vierzehn (fearzane)

So, that's about it... *thinks* yeah... that's it. In the numbers...
    And I think, if someone is nearly falling the class, I might help. Even with the more difficult stuff. ^^;;

    So,
Bis die Tage ('see you' quite informal) *big grin*

Okay. . .my first questiong of I'm sure what will be a series of questions. School has started for me not long ago and so has German class. Woopey! This new german teacher thinks we know more than we do and it bugs me. . . *grumble*

    My questions is;
I know there are two forms for the adressing sort of words:
Ich, Du, Wir, Ihr, Er, Sie, Es, Sie and sie
Then there are the other forms Mein, Dein. . . and some others (deich possibly?)? I can't remember. . but something like that. (heh. . .this is why i need the help)

Okay and since i couldnt find my old notes to help me out, can you tell me what those words are and how they are used and defined?

Another question. . .yes another. When using those words in plural form you add a "e" to the end, correct? (Meine, Deine etc.)

And please let me know, if i have these things totally and utterly wrong.

Im utterly confused in my class right now. I'm sure I will have more questions to come.

(Fairly easy questions for some, I'm sure, but mind you, I am only in my second year of german. German II. With two more levels to go. I'm not too bad at german, I know most of the basics.)

    Thanks in advanced. ^_^

    Der Spiegel Online

There are some articles about keeping your german in good wealth. Here is an example in a Dialogue between Heidi and Frau Rottenmeier, and the Hinein and Herein thing.

    Komm rein!

    Heraus, heraus hab ich gesagt!

    Heidi's dialogue with Frau Rottenmeier

Zweibelfisch, die ganze Sache mit der Sprache. Nur auf Deutsch (only in german)

I have a german joke for you all. I thought it was funny. I should have posted it a while ago.

What is between Vier (Fear) and sechs (zakes)?

    Fünf (foonf)

You got to say it out load to get it. I just thought I would share.
