It's been a very long time since I've been interested in any television show but this one actually managed to do so. "Heroes" is about normal people who wake up one day to discover super powers. No teams, no costumes; most of them have never met before and none of them know about each other's powers at first. The production value for the series seems pretty good but it gets pretty gory. All those intestines...

They have a wide range of the stereotypical super hero types, only without the spandex. The well intentioned screw up, the sibling team, the drug addict self destruct, the genius kid, etc., all make appearances. The one I see with the most potential is the nerd character, Hiro Nakamura. Out of all of them, he's the only one who looks like he was destined to be a real hero. He also has arguably the best power.

A companion web comic was even made with additional material tying into the TV story. http://www.nbc.com/Heroes/novels/ It's best to watch the corresponding episode before you read them though.

That's enough of my ranting. Hope people pic up on the series. That Hiro cracks me up. :p

I couldn't agree with you more. Plus, the rest of the characters' plot lines are pretty deep (noy exactly emmy material, but good enough for a superhero show). I'm definitely gonna keep watching.

I plan on looking into it. I'm a sucker for superhero titles when it comes to movies and if they can crank out a TV series that's good and still follows the basic superhero idea, I'm willing to watch.

There actually isn't too much traditional superhero stuff so far. No epic battles at least. The main appeal so far is how the characters are learning about, reacting to and developing their powers. It's early though and one of the characters looks like the types who just might put on the tights. :p

Right now, it looks like some of them are destined to become "tragic heroes." I think I'll start a betting pool to see who kicks the bucket first... ;)

Awww, how sweet. Early deaths. ;3
*resists thinking about capes and jet turbines.* I wouldn't mind a gorey death or two. ><

    Nice incredibles reference, btw.

I recently read a book that was just like this show, but with Superman. It was all about how he learned about his powers, and how to use them, and was one hell of a read. I forget what it was called, though...

Yeah, but that's just cosplay for adults, which should NEVER be on TV. It gives me chills just thinking about it.

Anyone see last night's ep? Hiro was funny, gain, but the cheerleader's story just got WAY more interesting. Waking up in a morgue with your chest cut open? Awesome. And the police officer got caught by Sylar. Dammit, right as he was getting cool!

As far as bets go we know Isaac is dead in 5 weeks.

The scenes from the next one looks awesome. Claire maybe offing that guy. Heh

Lawl, if I woke up in the same place the Cheerleader had last night, you wouldn't be seeing me sneaking away. No, I'd scream until someone found me open on the table. >.>

And crashing that car.. Yeah, I wouldn't even pretend that that was a good idea.

It's funny how Hiro adopts that ninja costume in the future. I keep looking at that huge sword he's got and wondering if it's for practical use or just for show. :p

Lol, he's so cute when they're in the casino. I mean, I wanted to pinch his cheeks the whole time. ><

He really has a childlike personality. I really hope he doesn't lose that in the future. I do like future Hiro's badass vibe though.

Dude, that cheerleader is one bad mamma-jamma. But what's with the preview? "Save the cheerleader, save the world"?

Yeah. That's a pretty messed up quote. It's tough to imagine how you would go about saving a girl who can survive a sharp stick through the head.
The title of the next episode is encouraging though, "Hiro's."
