It's like my new computer has a pathological dislike for Netscape. First, IE wouldn't load the page, then, I couldn't install it, and now, when I've taken the old version from my old computer, it can't find the folder. I put it on a ZIP disk, and the folder doesn't exist. The folder is gone.

Can anyone help me install Netscape? I'm getting sick of putting up with IE.

    Or install Opera :)

I'd say install either Firefox or Opera instead of Netscape or IE...

    Oh the hateness for IE...

Netscape has always been my preferred web browser. Since way back in the days of Netscape 2.0. So, I'm looking for a way to get Netscape. Besides that, I've never seen a place to download these others that you mention.

What can I say? I like what I like, and I'm stubborn.

Netscape, if it will work, is what I'm going to use. I thank you all for your help, and I may check out these other browsers, should Netscape continue not-installing.

But, I'm at a library right now, so I can't. :p (I'm on my way to work... 'till 11:30pm) :dizzy2:

What's the big difference between Netscape and Mozilla anyway? I have not been using Netscape for years. 4.2, I think, the last version I used

If you want the Netscape looking you can always get it by installing a single skin in Firefox.

    Or...

If you want a complete suite, you can install Mozilla instead or get the couple Firefox-Thunderbird (AMAZING)

Netscape 4.6 was my fave. I never got to liking Netscape 6.0.

But anyway, once I get home, I'm going to try to install it again, and see what will happen.

I'll keep you, eheh, posted on the details.

Shinryu: Firefox is the *OFFICIAL* successor of Netscape. When Netscape (the company) broke, they founded the Mozilla organization and gave the code to the people there. After many years of coding, Phoenix aka Firebird aka Firefox was born (names changed for legal reasons :p)

AOL purchased Netscape, but their browser is a bloated version of Mozilla (the browser). Just because it looks like netscape, doesn't make it Netscape.

Netscape 4.7 was my favorite, but it's outdated now. And Netscape 6/7 just can't compare to Firefox. This browser got so popular its followers contributed for a NYTimes full page ad. Then NYTimes reviewed it and recommended it instead of IE.

As a replacement for Netscape mail, you can use Mozilla Thunderbird. I imported all my NS mails without any problem.

Alright, I'll give it a try. I'll just take the link in your sig. I'll let you know what I think.

[EDIT]I'm on Firefox right now, and, though its layout is a bit weird for me, I can't say I don't like it. (But then, I've only visited three places, two of them VB forums) I'll give a more qualified opinion as soon as I've figured it out a bit more.

Shinryu - Waiting for someone like J2X to say "There's a good boy." and pat him on the head. :puppy dog eyes:

FINALLY back online! The network failed, and I had to get my uncle to fix it for me. I just now got back. Anyway, I've used Firefox a bit, I've gotten Netscape to install.

Now, out of three web browsers, I must choose one. ;) One will become my web browser of choice, the others will be shamed and forgotten.

But which should I choose? :p It's so hard! Why do I have to choose one of the three?! :D

(No, but seriously, I'll probably stick with Netscape)

[EDIT] I'm currently using both Netscape and Firefox at the same time, and they seem very similar, so I can only say that one or the other will come out ahead. Firefox's chances are growing, too.

Don't forget the tabbed browsing! :D

    CTRL-T opens new tab.
    CTRL-TAB switches tabs.
CTRL-Click opens link in new tab

    Thanks all, for your help/suggestions.

    Good decision :)

The current "netscape" browser is based on the code of the Mozilla browser. Difference being the branding and addition of AOL links and things. Of the two, I'd go with Mozilla (no bloatage, and newer/up to date). Firefox is also based on Mozilla, but is even leaner. It's really the same browser as Netscape, only far more up to date and lean.

I'm preaching to the choir though since you are already using it :D

I'm an Opera man myself though. Check out the very first skin on this page: http://my.opera.com/community/customize/skins/ :D

    Nop

Do you want a Netscape feel?:
    Themes

    Add functions to Firefox:
    Extensions

F7 key: Places a cursor on the screen to select text as in Word

Not at all. It is entirely its own code.

You have to love them for coming up with tabbed browsing and mouse gestures, features that now enrich most other browsers (aside from IE of course).
