Hello everyone! How are you doing? I hope everything is great :)

I am planning on starting an anime event/convention in Bahrain, which is going to be the first of its kind in here (if not in the middle east!).

I just want some comments/suggestion to help me or guide me through it. I am not expecting huge visitors, maybe a hundred or two.

I hope I can see you there if you live anywhere near by! :p

Check out the other cons to see what they have for events. Don't plan on getting any "big name" artists.

Do a cosplay contest, show off fan manga, and games.

Anime card games. comp, ps, xbox, and wii. depending on how many systems you have. Get 1 for each at least.

    LARP is also good. AMV?

Here are the most popular games I've seen set up in cons here for each individual system...

    Wii-SSBB
PS2-Usually imported games such as that Bleach/DBZ/One Piece fighting game, or the latest Bleach
PS3-Resistance? But that's just because there's no good PS3 games, though if you plan on making it later this year, you can use the latest DBZ game comin' out!
    X-360-Usually Guitar Hero
    Dreamcast-Marvel vs. Capcom 2
    PsOne-Card Capture Sakura Tetris

And, you always need a costume contest ^o^

A Con is a great place for people to get together and watch Anime titles, new and upcoming stuff, along with some classics. I imagine you'll want a few viewing rooms, one or two for the size of the Con you want to start. Most cons have an exhibit hall where folks come to hawk thier wares and such. If this is your first time doing one I don't expect many folks to come to fill the hall. Such is the nature of the beast.

LARPing and Cosplay might not be that popular, especially considering the area you're going to be holding it in. I don't see very many grownups getting dressed up as thier favorite characters. Maybe kids, you never know. If this is your first one I suggest you start off small and get a feel of who would come as well as what kinds of folks will show up. You're not planning all this alone, are you?

So far I have been all alone :)

I am trying to meet some new people to create a strong reliable group of people to help around. But there isn't many enthusiastic people around to plan this; its more about attending the event.

    An anime con sounds good!

If I could be there in your location I could say I'd be one of the organizers :D, but sadly, I think not many people are interested in forming a group to organize such events... (Fans these days...) But it would be great to have a con organized by the people of Boards JP :p

You should get for game cube (can be used in the Wii) Battle Stadium D.O.N.

Its a fun game that consists of a battle with DBZ, One Piece, and Naruto.
