Ok not saying this Karma stuff is bad,but I do doubt peoples ability to use it responsibly.I was negative one on karma points, why you ask?
Because I posted lyrics for Nine Inch Nails-Hurt as lyrics that meant something to me.I recieved a negative point for the simple reason of "it was better with Johnny Cash".For christs sake Nine Inch Nails still wrote the damn song, who covered it should have nothing to do with it.So like I said,Im not to sure if we are responsible enough.

Remember though that if you get a really whack reason for negative karma from someone, you can report em. Also, we can now see the username of the person who gave karma, so you know who it is. Some people thought that it would cause flame wars in PM's, but overall I think people are giving more thought to karma (since their username gets revealed).

I think the giving karma thing is good, it teaches people not to post pointless things *like me*, and it gives something to look forward too, ...I got a couple of bad karmas though, and it didnt give me a reason

the point of bad karma is to show you that you posted badly. check to see if it added nothing to the thread, was horribly written, bad taste, or maybe just countered someone hard-*** opinion(which is not a valid reason for giving bad btw).

Yeah, sometimes there's no need to give a reason for karma, because the reason should be obvious. If it's not the case though, and you think it was unjustly given, you can report it to a moderator.

Hmmm. What happens when there is no reason present?

Should I make assumptions about the reason then?

Sure, you could make assumptions like that.

mines a scale too. but that scale/yinyang thingy is also right next to the red triangular shape sign with "!" in it. if you put your cruser over it it says report bad post.
and the scale says add to __username__ reputation

all right I got it, it is a yinyang (it only looks like that when you choose the color for your background "cloud" (it looks cool this way even the smilies are diffrent)

edit: if you have it in cloud the box were you report bad posts will not be a red triangle

Just a reminder.. members tend to give out bad karma to those who double post, especially if it's done frequently. There's also the occasional post in threads that have nothing to do with the thread topic, and some that call other members names - those types of posts may get bad karma.

I believe that karma points only count when a member who has 50+ posts gives the poitns to you...right? Or is that wrong? Partially, perhaps? I was told that...Or I misinterperted it...I do not remember seeing that said somewhere...I may be wrong.

Yes. Your Karma weighing factor sets in at your 50 posts and you must have at least 10 positive reputation points. If not, all you give out is neutral reputation.
