Quest for Sound Creatu It ain't over

  1. There was a flurry of discussion about finding a translator for the Sound
Creature text but now it seems to have died down. I am assuming that the
lull in activities is due to the Thanksgiving holiday. Folks planning
family get togethers, etc. as am I.

The challenge is not over though, at least not for me. The great thing
about the internet is that it changes very quickly. If nothing pans out
from this attempt. I can try asking at the same forums again in a few weeks
and there will be different people to respond. Eventually, this will get
    done.

The scans that Kevin provided show 7 different pages from the insert book.
At his website Ben describes the book as being 12 pages ( Ben are you
there?), so are there more pages than the 7? If so, Does anyone have the
book who could scan the missing pages so we have them all?

For now, here's wishing y'all a safe n' happy Thanksgiving....

  2. I just wanted to publically thank Mike for staying on top of this.

Last I heard, two people thought that they had found translators.

Is anyone working on it yet?

    Lets keep the flame going!

I have an email friend in Japan that has said he would help. Looking at the
amount of text to translate, I think it will take a fair amount of effort to
complete. Because of this, I don't want to question him about his progress. I
figure I'll wait awhile for him to respond with an update.

If anyone does complete the translation before then, please let me know.

    Thanks, and Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

  4. As I said before, lets split it up into parts.

If even one page could be completed, that would be a major step.
I'm perfectly happy to baby step my way to success on this one.

  5. Hi All,
I am still in the process of pursuing my brother in regarding translation.
Haven't forgotten or given up yet.

  7. Hi All,

My brother is happy to do the translation. He mentioned that some of the
    Kanji was difficult to read.
The files I have were from a ZIP file (tomita.zip) of about 1.5MB.
Apologies, but I can't remember who supplied the original files. Is it
possible to get slightly higher resolution scans to make his job a little
easier? The current scans were 72dpi, 150dpi would be better.
Also, not as important, but for B&W/monochrome text based scans, a GIF file
will result in a smaller file size and produce better image than jpeg. Jpeg
is typically better for photographic images, GIF is usually better for
single toned, or 'spot' colour images like scanned text. I know its a pain
to redo it, but it will make things simpler at this end.
File size is not a big issue for me as I have broadband internet connection.

    Thanks in Advance,

    Regards,
    Lance

Starting to sound like this is gonna happen!
I have the album but not the insert book. Hoping someone else has the book who can do better scans of the the pages. Anyone? Ben?
(If you need a better scan of just the inside gatefold, I would be happy to privide.)

If necessary, I could scan the booklet, but not before the weekend.
