Rurouni Kenshin Fans Unite!

I call forward those who endure the torture of watching Toonami's Rurouni Kenshin on Cartoon Network. This stunning show has been reduced to rubble and made for an any age audience. Before, they have done this to other really good shows, but Kenshin, toonami has gone too far. They haven't shown an drop of blood, even though the show is done with swords that cut, not bruise (like DBZ). I can type a whole list of things they take out of show, but for a short list-- blood (completly), Yahiko kicking guy in balls, cuss words, everything in relation with a not-so-kiddie subject, Jineh(sp) smoking, and Jineh killing himself. Many many more, and the list grows by day. I'm not sure about everyone else's thoughts, but to me, this has to be dealt with somehow. I am putting forward that we do something to make them take it off of Toonami. (Adult Swim would be suitable if it was not edited, but no less) Do not respond unless in support of this idea please. Thank you.

 

I understand what you mean, but... When you think of it at least they are introducing it to a North American audience. I just hope that it doesn't become too popular in North America, like Dragonball Z and Sailor Moon did and people emerge saying "what the hell, who would like Kenshin??? yeah little kiddies..." I swear, I believe that if DBZ wasn't popular that there wouldn't be as many people who detest it.

Sigh... got that off of my back ^^> When you look at the bright side of them having it on, at least they kept the name Rurouni Kenshin rather than Samurai X. At least they are pronouncing all of the names right(which I find very surprising.) At least they kept the storyline intact... I hope that they show the uncut version in Adult Swim one of these days for the teen audience >.<x

 

I have found them to pronounce several words incorrectly. YaHIIIIIko, they try too hard on, just nice and short, yahiko. Then BattOOUsai. Some of the dubbing is bad, too. The voice isn't expressed enough on the actions they are doing. The english dubbing in the movie is a lot better. Sigh... What a disappointment this show will be in the eyes of RK fans. If only they put it on something that doesn't cut everything important out. The show is centered on a past manslayer... Someone who kills people. Isn't that enough not to put it on Toonami, instead of trying to by cutting numerous parts out and failing horribly?

 

well understand that when something comes to america it has to be changed because anime here is intended for kids under 10. Media here is quite different here than there where nudity isnt always a sign of pornography but beauty. its really just that cultures are clashing and that things just are different. we otaku know how to pronounce anime names because we've seen it in japanese or like i can speak it. yahiko looks like it should be pronounced ya-hik-o. in japan its quite different because the characters are sperated differently ya-hi-ko. remember japanese is a terribly complex language. so for now just bear it or just dont watch it we can get DVDs here and watch them in japanese u know. u gotta live with whats put out by american culture. thats just the way things are for now. probably forever atleast here in america...

 

how can they possibly turn an anime like Rurouni Kenshin into an all audince show without totally killing it? its ruined without the killing and the blood and such. I don't get toonami unfortunately but i'm sure they killed it, and if its as bad as i think it is, something should be done about

 

you cant. thats it you just cant. they will not change things like that they cant. its has to fit a certain show patern. all you can really do is bear it for now

*sighs* look its already being shown on Toonami that means even if they do put it on Adult Swim it'll probably be still cut just like when they Put Outlaw Star on the Adult Swim it had already been cut. each edit and stuff are layovers or redubs. that means that the versions that they keep on hand are already cut. even if they did put it on Adult swim they would have to re-edit it. wors such as F*** and S*** arent allowed on any sort of TV so every episode would have to be re-edited. Cowboy Bebop and Inu Yasha and Lupin the Third (Lupin San Se) have already been edited to some degree, so tranfering it to Toonami is easy since all they have to do is edit things out. but it wont be changed back if they air it on the Adult Swim. thats just way things are.

 

Well, they could show the original dubbed versions...

 

technically no because they would have to edit it down anyway. so really u gotta just live with it. i cant stand it but then again i have the whole series on VCD. its Oniwabanshu ONIWABANSHU NOT ONIWABANKU!!!!NOT F******* ONIWABANKU

the petition will not work...its really not going to work. even if they do decide to put it on the Adult Swim it will still have the stupid american ways of saying names and there will still be much editing on the blood, and other nastiness

 

Hitokiri_Gensai, i dont think that it wont work, but on the other hand i see what they do to perfectly good shows like yu yu hakusho. the pronounceation wont be perfect but i know what you saying as a japanese girl i find it odd that they would say it differently.

 

well the thing is that in american the way words are said is differently in japanese. japanese is cut up into sections such as ya hi ko where as in american its would be yahiko pronounced lik yahik-o...which is a pained tourtue to listen to

 

hmm Hitokiri_Gensai I thing youre right. If you listen to Richard Hayworth(voice of kenshin) he sort of pronounces them right instead of ra he sometimes says la or a da-ish kind of sound

 

yeah sometimes the person just pronounces them better or often times the person gets taught a little japanese just to make it sound better

you are right..... adult swim would be nice to have it on.... its a show with swords....... they show nothing they just cut to the next scene and from this the shows are only like 15 minutes now.... they have dont the same with yu-yu hakisho you can't really understand the show from not showing the fights....they say things in there that some times playin like a further on episode and you could have watched every episode and have no idea what they are saying........ Toonami is making the show suitable for 5 year olds.... they show none of the moves just like a hair band getting cut off it is not even TV-7 it is TV-Y this makes me verey mad

 

Hopefully they'll show it on Adult Swim later on, they moved shows like Yuyu to the Toonami block, and Outlaw Star from Toonami to Adult Swim... so here's hoping.

That is part of engrish, some Japanese people who speak english may pronounce l's as r's(go to http://www.engrish.com to see what I mean)

 

I don't like the dubbed versions mostly cause of the voices that doesnt fit (like yahikos english voice, sounds like he would be 17 or something) but Zanosukes english voice is atleast fitting a bit but the original is still best... I got the Samurai X movie and even though it was dubbed (ok I could change launguage) there were blood i nthe movie

 

hmm engrish fun ^^;;; anyway most people dont relize this but anime actually spawned from Disney in the 1950's so we wouldnt have anime if we didnt have walt disney *shudders* wow thats a scary fact... kowaii...
