    More then just a number

    Heh, that's a cute haiku. As for all the poems: damn, they're all very good. I just know I'm going to ruin this threat with my silly attempts at poetry....

    More then just a number

    I want to leave the digital traffic jam
    I want to be judged by who I am
    Don’t want to be judged by some test
    I don’t need to be better then the rest

    Living life day after day
    Nobody tells you to go out or play
    You have to work until your hands bleed
    For some number on a sheet
    On a bank account or diploma
    A simple number can be a dilemma

    It’s like each human is the same
    I’m sick of this governmental game
    It’s like nobody is real
    But there’s no number for what you feel

    You can’t capture a human with a number
    Will they ever understand?
    I want to be more then just a number
    I want to be, but can’t

    my poem

    well this is mine i don't think its my best work. this was one of my short ones i wrote.

    Love is patient and kind, even though it hurts some times
    It keeps you going on and on , love is not jealous or
    Untrusting, unwanted, and or perfect it has its ups and
    Downs its twist and turns but no matter how hard it maybe ill
    Always be here beside you throw the hard time and the easy
    Love does not keep a record of wrong its not happy or evil
    But it is happy with the truth love never gives up no matter how
    Hard it is to get by you should never give up on love because it will never
    Give up on you neither will I .
    even though were so far apart were so close together.
    Let me be the one that you run to,
    Everything that you’re going through,
    Ill be here to try and comfort you,
    And if you feel kind of lonely, you just call me
    Anytime, any place, anywhere
    Let me be your angel,
    You don’t have to worry, I’m with you,
    what I do, how I am, what im like,
    what makes you like me,
    what makes you feel this way about me,
    Every thing you have ever told me ,
    I have believed because I was you’re angel ,
    even when your asleep,Ill be here for you , even when life for you
    Is at a dead end , ill still be here , still be your angel,
    and most of all your lover.

    Here's some Poetry I wrote:

    I walk down a Forest Road
    Dark menacing trees creep upon me
    The path becomes narrower as the branches slash my face
    I begin to think the darkness will never end

    Suddenly I come across a grassy opening
    The sun shines bright upon my face
    The trees are green, flourishing with color
    In this clearing I become at ease, drawn in by the beauty

    After resting in the grove I feel stronger,
    And I undertake a more dangerous road
    Now I am not afraid
    Of what awaits in the deep darkness..

    Heres another about waking up from a nightmare:

    As the day begins to fade, so does your mind
    Into the lands of night, where the deep shadows lie
    A fog invades the senses, driving them away
    Leaving the mind defenseless to the ravages of thought
    They beat, they burn, they bruise,
    They lock your sanity away,
    Making you think these thoughts, bringing them to life
    You now make your own world, but you hardly interact
    You can only stand and watch, screaming screamless shouts
    As everything falls into despair, and you know that its real
    But how is something real if you don't feel it?
    Can it all be fake, figments of a defenseless mind?
    You stand up and shout, your senses have returned.
    Your thoughts have been pushed back into the deep,
    They only wait to resurface once more.
    OLD MEMORIES SELDOM FADE, THEY SAY....

    so what do ya'll think????

    HAI! i wrote this when i was very small but i stil remember!

    --
    I am a T-rex,thats not hard to say.
    I sleep in the Morning and play in the day.
    But when i'm the meanest,is in the night,
    when all the other dinosaurs have turned out the light.
    But sometimes i get lonely,i'm sunk in the tub.
    But once they get to know me,they'll fall in love!!
    --

    ha! i know its corny but i was little! dont throw pies at meeee~~~

    Second Samurai

    The graceful fall of the samurai in feudal Japan was a part of history I found very difficult to cope with. Here is a rurouni who couldn't let go of his honor and his way of life.

    People pass me on the street with care,
    I stand in defiance, my face plastered with rain.
    They wince and pretend that I'm not there,
    I bite my lip and try not to cry out in pain.
    Many of my cuts still bleed, a pool forms at my feet,
    I see children skip bye with fluffy white bread,
    And I wonder when I will finally be able to eat.
    My stomach grumbles, and headaches fill my head,
    As I hold my sword closer and hope it will all end soon.
    There's so much that all of them have forgot,
    Not me. I will embrace what was given to me.
    I will carry on the legend this sword has brought,
    I will stand where everyone can see.
    And show them what a sword can do!
    Show them I still remember everything,
    Show them all they once knew,
    Show them birds still sing,
    and humans will bleed forever,
    and the sword will live forever.
    As I live by the sword.

    That was beautiful, tears. It really captures our way of life. It's the kind of thing that makes you wish for fantasy worlds and stuff. Kudos to you, and well said!

    For ****s and giggles, I've been doing some Trigun pictures lately and alwasy found it interesting, or at least fun, to write in little words on the pictures and such (see my post in the Art section, Genocide thread, for example). So, for a Vash the Stampede picture I made up this little haiku. (It'd help if you'd seen the series to really get this)

    ~~~
    Spider, butterfly
    Is there a way to save both?
    There just has to be
    ~~~

    Well that was the suckiest suck that ever sucked. Enjoy!

    Oops! I didn't see the other thread. People seem to go here more than at the other one.

    Well, here's my Escaflowne poem that I wrote all by myself. It took me a couple of hours since I can't rhyme too well but I really tried. Tell me what you think:

    Destiny and Angels

    ~~~~~~
    Visions of a planet
    And an angel she did see
    The power to foretell the future
    Would lead her to her destiny
    A bet with her superior
    Under 13 seconds for the 100-meter dash
    Would win her a kiss
    But a boy she did clash
    He spoke a weird language
    And ordered them to run
    But the dragon appeared
    And it was time for some fun
    He fought as best he could
    He tried to defend those he didn’t know
    He needed the energist
    That bright stone with the pink glow
    He finished the dragon off
    And took out the stone
    She asked him if he was okay
    But he answered in a hostile tone
    “I’m not so bad off that I need a woman to worry about me”
    She slapped him and yelled
    He really didn’t see
    That she was truly worried about him
    She wasn’t dancing with glee
    “Why can’t you at least say ‘thank you’?!”
    He realized his mistake and was going to speak
    But the pillar arrived and carried them away
    Now her friends were left with answers to seek
    She arrived on a strange planet
    The boy by her side
    Wolf-men appeared
    And offered them a ride
    They were taken to Fanelia
    Where he presented the stone
    Everyone was impressed
    As they all gasped
    He had succeeded in his quest
    She was taken to the castle
    She missed her home
    Who should arrive then but an annoying little cat-girl
    Who started to roam
    She took possession of a magical necklace
    And took off like a cat
    But the other was right on her heels
    She wished she had a bat
    Many adventures ensued
    Ones that changed her life
    Her friends were right by her side
    To them fighting was (a) rife
    Problems then came
    Not those of battle but those of love
    As she fell for one guy
    The other was jealous of (Allen)
    As time went by she began to think
    ‘Who’s the angel from my vision?’
    She had no idea that he was near
    She had only been wishin’ he would appear
    Her feelings for Allen began to leave
    As her feelings for Van grew
    But she still didn’t know
    That he was her angel too
    Finally the time came when she would have to part
    By then she knew whom she loved
    She was hoping he felt the same way
    She didn’t want her feelings shoved
    They said their goodbyes
    Her eyes (were) filled with tears
    He looked up at her sadly
    He showed no fears
    “We’ll see each other again, my love.”
    “Do not fret.”
    “I would rather part from you and see you later”
    “Then never to have met.”
    She took in his words of comfort
    And made a promise to the stars
    “I’ll return to him one day.”
    She wouldn’t let there be scars
    And on some days, people claim
    When they’re on their last breath
    They claim to see an angel carrying his love
    Then they sink into death
    The story of an angel and his love
    Is one people love to see
    They’ll never forget how it happened
    Or how it came to be…
    ok here is my first poem outside of school work, hope ya like it, even thought it will probably suck assbelonkers
    i lay here, staring towards the sky
    always thinking, wondering why
    many people must hate,
    they all discriminate
    i sit down asking for when,
    will i be free of this pen
    for my pleasure and for my pain,
    forever the sky seems to rain
    why cant people be friends and cherish?
    they always want this love to perish
    war is whats on everymind
    keeping us in a bind
    the media destroys and kills,
    while people only seek those bills
    greed has taken over our hearts,
    damn-nation caused by moneys start
    censorship has become and art
    like a poisonous little dart
    and i lay here, staring towards the heavens,
    hoping for that roll of double sevens
    for that we will know all is lost,
    when we care only about cost
    soon we will be the last
    looking back, wanting past
    ok i guess thats it. tell me what you think, it probably does suck though, like i said
    Before you post your poem, comment on one of the ones above you. ^_^
    Thankies ^.^ That's such a sweet thing to say! As for your suggestion: I'm okay with that. "Comment on the stuff the one wrote before you." *nods*
    Alucard666: It's message is sad, but true. I like it. It's one of those poems you read, reread, nod to yourself and agree with what they say. I like the kind of poems that kinda drag you nose to acknowledge the horrible truths in the world. The last thing on my mind is to think that it 'sucks'. I mean, a lot of rhyme is being 'forced' into rhyme for the sake of it having to rhyme for a poem (yeah, I'm guilty of that crime, I know), the first couple of lines I thought to sound a bit 'forced', but as the poem continues it keeps getting better.
    "and i lay here, staring towards the heavens,
    hoping for that roll of double sevens" -> I particularly like those two lines. Anyway, I think you did a great job, even despite those first few less good lines, and I will look forward to reading more from you.
    As for the poem-thingy I wrote:
    The roads of our life
    You travel forwards, day by day
    Don’t turn around, make no delay
    What’s done is done
    Let regret be gone
    Life seems like one big road
    Some travel light, others with load
    Life seems like one big street
    You don’t know who you’ll meet
    Life seems like one long course
    A journey filled with remorse
    Like an endless game with no begin
    And you’re not sure on how to win
    A road so twisty, turned and endless
    Walking on it seems like madness
    Pointless, impossible, unable to defy
    Yet you can’t be sure if you don’t try
    You travel forwards day by day
    Don’t turn around, make no delay
    Just don’t travel anywhere out of obligation
    Think for yourself: what is your destination?
