    Which do you prefer?
I think Miike is more interesting, just because there is so much more mayhem in his movies, but they're both very cool.

Well Takashi Mike has made quite a few violent films (and I own most of them). He is a great director and is know for his films even if people dont know his name or what he looks like.

Takashi 'Beat' Kitano started as a comedian and was/still is a huge star in Japan. When he made his way into films his first role was 'Bridge over the River Kuyi' (I Think someone can correct me if I'm wrong) and the fans of Beat thought it was funny, it was ment to be serious. He then went on to make his own films and he is also a great director and I cant make myself pick one. Kitano has made/stared in some great films, Brother, Battle Royale, Zatoichi 2004. He even got his own television show. Takeshi's Castle.

Both are great directors in there own ways and strenghts.
