How do I get my stuff back from an ex?

I have been thinking off and on. Pretty much when I look at my check book. And when the week is up.

I am missing over 660 bucks worth of shit. But I only want 660. I really dont care for the rest. And bill that is 175 and 75 bucks worth. I can either take legal action that will take 20 days plus not get the things back. Or...
