I Think Meaikoh_Takashi was really onto something because I have seen a Pillows music vid and it was for FLCL's soundtrack and their T-shirts were
    1. Cool
    2. Fool
    3. Tool

    coincidence... I think not :p

I came by to ask the same question, and my, I should watch that show more often my help here might be needed.

But anyway, I think MT just pointed something that made it little clear to me, like what she said, fooly cooly might mean as fool cool, which is in a better way to say it, cool fool.

The fool part might be when, uhh, whatever his name is grow these 'things' from his head. I just saw eps 1 & 2 from DVD1. Going to see more soon hopefully :) And by then, I might've memorised their names and got to know more :p

    Though, all that "Energy" reminds me of excel saga which I didn't like it for the painful headache I got --;

Anyway, don't want to change the subject, and if someone got off topic cause of me, be sure your post will be honored by being deleted by me ;)

Wow, I'm surprised this thread got so far...
Well, Furi Kuri...Heh, like I have any idea. But the whole name, its just confusing, makes no sence, but, hey, it kept us coming back every night to watch it, didn't it? Anyways it's a great show and makes no difference at all. The truth is, I never want to know what it means, it's just something to go along with to me.

I think it means something similar to:

    "something perverted" or "something sexual"

I remember how they were sitting at the table and using the words FURI KURI over and over again like it had to do with sex and other junk.

Fooly Cooly stands for when Naota was acting cool by acting like an adult but in the end he made himself look like a fool, thats what its stands for

Honestly, that is the stupidest answer i have ever heard. :anger2:

let my guess... fool and cool have the same exact meanings in japanese as in english! :anger2:

o wait. are you joking? :sweat2:

    its not funny :anger2:

Um yeah. People in Japan never use any english words. Ever. Especially not simple stuff like "OK" or "Cool." No words from other foreign languages either

person A: hmm.. What does Weiß Kreuz mean?
    person B: White Cross
Person C: Are you trying to say that Weiß Kreuz means the same thing in japanese as it does in german? That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard!

Try thinking of it this way: In Japan, the english word "fool" means the exact same thing as it does here. There's no law against a cross-language pun (see Shu / Shoe from Now and Then, Here and There episode one, or some of the work of Otto "Guten Einkauf" the comic)

Thanks for playing. Next time try to put a little more thought into it before you decide to flame someone.

I don't think the words Furi Kuri was meant to be defined or discussed in depth. It is better in my opinion to, like the hilarious anime, be taken at face value. Watch, enjoy, and move on. No time or point in fully understanding its meaning.

I still think it's something sexual related. Sort of the equivelent of "2nd base"

In the first episode, nalta's dad asks how they know eachother and she describes their relation in a sexual way. He's like "Grabbing her cupcakes???" "Furi Kuri?!?!?!"
