...a fresh new Battle of the Planets series. Except for Keye Luke, I believe all the voices from the series are alive and kicking. Keye's unique voice of Zoltar and The Luminous One are big shoes to fill, but I think it could be done. The question is what animation to use?

Maybe we should start a big list of who here has even seen Battle of the Planets. You can put me up as one who hasn't.

    Hmmm... New blood!

    Where shall I start!

Gatchaman was a series produced by Japanese studio Tatsunoko in the early 1970s. A lot of us *cough* 25+ year olds would have been gobsmacked (to use an Irish term) by a sci-fi cartoon series called Battle of the Planets (BotP) when we were at the tender age of 5 or so.

Battle of the Planets was an English language version of the Japanese Gatchaman, and was toned down significantly for the western audience. People never died (as they had in the original series), no matter how spectacularly their ship or vehicle exploded - these things were explained away by narrating robot 7-Zark-7 who sat happily back at base worrying about things.

BotP focussed on Earth's teenage defenders,
G-Force, who battled against the evil Zoltar (one of those great, great villains) and the forces of Spectre who were intent on destroying Earth.

The BotP episodes are now being re-released (due to a pretty substantial fan following in both the UK and the US) on both sides of the Atlantic.

I think my explanation is failing a little, here's a great overview of what it's about:

This is a very funny explanaion of BotP, from the above site [CLICK HERE FIRST]:

Back to the question, surely the most logical (and certainly the most likely) that any further BotP would come from the unused episodes from Gatchaman I, II and F serials.. cheap and easy.

Can't see Casey coming back into it though - cool as it would be......

    A curious Casey fact:
It well known that Casey appears in Ghostbusters as the DJ on Sigourney's radio.... but did you know that the blonde who Rick Moranis dances with is Casey's wife?

    You do now.....

    BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
i DID laugh--this was really funny! poor Zark--he really WOULD have a tough time explaining Zoltar's little "problem" and Jason's . . .don't get me started. thanks for the reference, though!
