Here's what comes to mind, no ones probably heard of most of them, except MT, but who cares.

Coyote-Green Grass Running Water, One Good Story That One
Hawkeye, Ishmael, Robinson Crusoe, The Lone Ranger-Green Grass Running Water
Michael Valentine Smith-Stranger in a Strange Land
    Alexander-JOB: A Comedy of Justice
Gandalf, Treebeard- Lord of the Rings
Roland Deschain, Eddie Dean, Cuthbert Allgood, John (Jake) Chambers-The Dark Tower series
    Nick Andros-The Stand
    Rabo Karabekian-Bluebeard
    Paul Proteus-Player Piano
    Yossarian-Catch 22
    Holden Cauffield-Catcher in the Rye

These are only the ones that come to mind immediately, I'm sure if I thought harder I could remember some more.

P.S: Thanks to MT for reminding me of the names of some of these guys, even though I would have thought of them myself (I think).

    Mine are:

Strider, from Lord of the Rings (before we knew it was Aragorn)

Axel, the young guy from "Journey to the center of the earth"
    Sherlock Holmes (no presentation needed)
Kull (an atlantean guy from a fantasy book whose name i forgot)

And i think that's all - most of the books i read are not fiction but rather educational/informative.

I look more for the idea or concept of the book rather than the characters that inhabit it. But anyway here is a few of those characters that have influenced me enough to mention them.

Novinha - Speaker for the Dead
    Ender - Ender's Game
    Randy - Alas Babylon
    Wamba - Ivanhoe

I like just about every character in every book I've read, and that's alot of books. I just don't like Voldemort in Harry Potter. :dizzy2: Drizzt is one of the coolest though, he just sounded really sexy to me and he knows how to kick @$$. :D

Btw, the three official names for the narrator in Fight Club are "Narrator", "Jack", and "Rupert" (Rupert was only seen in sub-titles/captions for the movie, on the DVD, however).

After reading a few more books (and including a few I forgot)...

John Dolan Vincent - The Contortionist's Handbook
Raoul Duke - Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas
    Ratboy/Toret - Dhampir/Thief Of Lives
    Chane - Thief Of Lives
Narrator (for the life of me I cannot remember if Jim Carroll named the character after himself or not, been so bloody long since I read the book) - Basketball Diaries
