    Here's a bit more about Genie's story: http://kccesl.tripod.com/genie.html.

I remember learning about her in my psych class, and in child welfare. She was locked up in her parent's basement until she was 13 years old. Psychologist found her 'fascinating' because she possessed only the basic human instincts as she had no human contact in her early years, as well psychologists learned a great deal about the importance of learning a language during childhood. Genie had difficulty learning English after she was rescued.

Aside from looking at her as a research subject. I find it cruel that her parents locked her in a basement. I wonder what her father meant by his note saying "the world will never understand" that he wrote before he shot himself before the court trial. I wonder if they ever tried to put her up for adoption when she was born...

They are sick people and the other ones that tried to "help" her only wanted the money, she was used and it show on us that we are no better then a wild pack of dogs feeding on the weaker. its stupied, but at lest she is ok now, i hear she in a home with people who will help her.

Freud would say that's your Id at work. It's natural though, but something to be aware of and balance with the Ego.

Makes me wonder if people should have a license to have children, but that's more of a topic for the debates forum.

I'm actually really happy that she was given some sort of help. Plus with the help they were able to better understand what we are, and what makes us tick.

She could have just been put in a Center for Mentally Redarted people and left there with no help and nothing gained.

your right, but that one guys that was running the center and toke care of her only wanted the moeny.poor thing, now she's living with her mother, that woman dosent need to have her back, i wish i could have been one of the poeple to know her, to understand her, and to love her and not the money.
poeple like that are sick in the head, to use a child, and her father need to be beat for doing that to her.
but cant change the past now can we?
