My bestfriends invited me to cosplay with them in April. I need to start getting ready now but I haven't a clue on what to go as. I have not been watching too much anime lately and I wanted to know if anyone had any ideas of what I should go as??

    Thanks

If you're going as a group, why not work a group cosplay while you're at it? I'm sure you can find a suitable choice to fit you and your friends.

Anime is so broad that it's hard to really just throw out any random suggestions. Do you have any visual style in mind to help narrow down the choices?

I'd suggest picking a couple of your favourite animes and then narrowing it down from there. If it's your first time making one, then go for something simple and leave yourself enough time.
Trust me, cause the first time i made a cosplay outfit I forgot and left like a week or so and by the time I got the convention I was exhasted...

You and your friends should do a theme or a specific anime series together...you can all go as Inuyasha charaters or Ruroni Kenshin characters...catch my drift? I think It'd be pretty cool......

    I wanna cosplay.......

Also, depending on how much time you have until the convention. You might want to plan ahead with your friends about cosplaying as one specific theme. If you decide to do it or not you will still need time to plan out or make your own cosplay outfit for the convention. Making a cosplay uniform may take longer than you think and plans do change sometimes.

Final Fantasy characters are hard to cosplay as tho.

I suggest Kiki from Kiki's Delivery Service.

    Requirements:
    short brown hair.
dark purple dress with short sleeves.
    large red bow.
    broom stick.
    shoes.

    Additionals:
    Stuffed black cat.
    Bloomers.
Basket full of things to deliver? (a.k.a. it's really the basket for the crap you buy and your money)

That's it. Brooms don't usually get confiscated....unlike plastic knives and guns. :3

Im going cosplaying in February to Megacon in Orlando with some friends but have no clue who I am going to cosplay as... One of my friends is going as Itachi... but to find a Naruto character to fit me would mean I would probably have to be Chouji if we wanted to have an ongoing theme... but I would most definitely prefer someone else if possible lol. some of my picture are in the DARE Thread if you need some idea of how I look... thanks for everyone for the help and if you guys could think of anything I'd greatly appreciate it!

My biggest suggestion: cosplay to fit your body. Now, this doesn't just fall under size requirements; I'm talking facial hair, gender (this can be fun depending on the character, but again, body type), height, everything. If you really like a show, choose a character from that. A lot of the more recent shows can be cosplayed with things laying around the house with no need to make anything in particular; for me, making it is half the fun, but I can certainly identify with not wanting to go through the hastle.

Why don't you try another member of the Akatsuki? I don't watch Naruto, but...what about that shark guy? Kisame? You'll need alot of body paint tho, but people would REALLY be impressed.

Gender means nothing. XP Some of the best cosplays of male characters I've ever seen have been done by girls. Even a Maes Hughes cosplay, I saw was extremely well done by a girl. (but then again, this girl is amazing in her cosplay. She did this absolutely perfect Rikku once...I thought I was looking at a real picture of Rikku at first. o.o; She did a Roy once too. XP)

Oh, I absolutely agree with you; the very best Vash I've seen was done by a girl. I'm simply stating that, if you're *very* feminine or *very* masculine, it's very difficult to pull off the opposite gender. Again, body type. :p

I recommend Ginko from Mushishi if Crossplaying isn't a problem.
It's an easy character to make and is very unique looking.
