Any SMJ fans still alive out there? This forum is becoming dangerously inactive as of late.

More or less off-topic; What's up with boards.jp? I barely ever see any activity and yet I see people with HUGE post counts o_O this is freaking me out.
My guess is that it was very active during the late 90s and then .. died for some reason. Am I right? Eh? Eh?

We are certainly a dying breed. As far as SM series and series related items I haven't seen anything new come out in the past year. It appears, for all intents and purposes, that the series has been laid to rest by the industry. I'd love to see a continuation of thier saga, or perhaps another OVA, but I don't see that happening.

Still, here's to hoping. Mebbe someone out there will hear us and answer the call. Goodness knows there's enough Saber Marionette fanfiction still floating around including my own (with which I've been slacking horribly xP ). Rick (Luvweaver) has been out with his church seminary, so it's doubtful he'll return anytime soon. Last time I was able to chat with him things were in full swing. The reason why I bring him up is that I remember him being a huge proponent for the series, especially around here.

Aside from that I think there are a few of us 'old skool' folks still floating about. :3

Close. Early 21st Century we were booming and busting. Within the last year and a half activity has sort of dropped off.

My personal theory is we grew too big too fast. We went from a forum with a narrow focus on Anime and Manga to a sweeping collection of subjects covering just about every topic. Thus, our focus became lost and the activity slid away into general discussion. Not necessarily a bad thing on its own, but it segregated many of the veteran members from the new ones after time.

The team has been aware of the decrease in activity for some time now and has been working to identify possible causes and solutions.

To get back on topic with Saber Marionette, the last mention of anything on ANN dated back to December of '05, so I don't entertain any notions of seeing anything new release. If I had the connections, I'd pursue the material I haven't been able to get a finger on (the original novels, the Z manga, Oedo High School), but those have thus far been untraceable. Maybe I'll see if I can get in touch with "Hanami" of that particular website - although, being defunct as it is, that may not be an easy task.

Is new material a requisite for fan life? There are plenty of fan circles around things that have ended - J.R.R. Tolkien's works and canceled off-air television shows from years past to cite a pair of examples. Hell, Neon Genesis Evangelion had a huge following (and probably still does) from a single series run, with less than half the released material of Saber Marionette.

Have we exhausted all our discussion on the subject or have we just lost interest and moved on?

That's a difficult question, so I'll try and give you a simple answer. In a word, Yes, but that's not to say that I wouldn't love to come back and discuss until my fingers bleed. Unfortunately I'm not sure how many people still carry those sentiments. We need a good following to have a good discussion. What two people can discuss an entire group can dissect, analyze and reshape how we handle the entire topic. I guess that's what made posting in the SM Forum so much fun. The last few times I tried to bring back some life into the forum were met with lukewarm results. Like you said, the core group has been diffused over too many topics, but that's not a discussion for this thread.

oh lol, you haven't seen it yet? Make it #1 priority!!!

I was thinking about seeing it all through again yesterday (I must have seen it so many times subtitled). I think I will start today.. umm how is the dub by the way? I have to multi-task.

and the comment about late 90s.. imagine if we were around in the 90s. I don't think I'd have gotten any good marks in school!

Tolerable to terrible depending on which series. All of them have different casts. I've viewed J and J Again dubbed so far, the latter of which having me cringe whenever Lime opened her mouth. I'll be viewing the J to X dub next time I have a spare block of time, but I don't know if I'll make it, seeing as that's the worst of the bunch from what I remember.

The dub does not do the work justice and I recommend the original Japanese audio track whenever possible.

And Basher, make with the watch-watch. ;)

I used to be a big fan, but it's been a long time since I watched the series, and there are other series that I enjoy more, now. I like more action-filled series now.

I still remember most of it, though. Does that make me a nerd? :sweat2:

No more nerdy than the bunch of us who could probably recite it from start to finish, heh.

As an update, I did send out an email to Hanami but never heard back. I bet he's moved on and/or didn't understand me at all.

I was also close to scooping up the radio shows, as there was an eBay bid a while back for them. I held back not because I wouldn't understand them, but because the condition of the discs mentioned scratches that might prevent playback.

Now if I could just get ahold of the original novels...

Damn, if I'd known about that radio show, I might have bid on it myself. A CD repair kit would hopefully take care of the scratches... although I wouldn't know what to do about understanding them. :p

Hey guys!!! It's been a while since I last posted something for the SMJ threads. Last week I was digging up my old SMJ data bank bin and guess what I found! A downloaded copy of the SMJ Simms expansion pack!!!

Remember the guys at Devoid of thought? They made a little expansion for the pc game called the Simms and it features the Saber Marionettes Lime, Cherry and Bloodberry and not only that I also have the SMR expansion as well. Any of you guys interested to have a copy??? I would like to put it up on my SMJ site, but my free host would not allow any files with a .exe extension. Got any idea where I can put them up for free??

I miss devoid of thought. That site was fun.

Have you tried zipping the executable and hosting that? I'm certain most free hosts only filter by file extension.

I checked, and Jedimdo's links are still working for the moment. He has the same pack as well as the Otaru and Hanagata skins up on geocities.

Does anybody know what happened to Hanami's SM World!!!?

It's surprising to see other SMJ sites still standing after all these years. It's sad that they are a dying race... :(
I tried doing that once, but geocities rejected my zip file, they keep saying "unsupported file" I'll try again some time...

All of a sudden Hanami's SM World became a hallow shell, the front page is up, but the stuff in it are all gone!!! now it's totally GONE!!! Anybody know where I can contact the web master of this site???

I have learned a few more things about the once fabled SMJ 2 novel, now it's confirmed. It's real!!! (yay) only thing is to piece them all together. I have been meaning to remodel my old SMJ site (remember B.Tuvs' Saber Site???) it's mine (and still is) though I'm not so up with updating it anymore, with help from you guys (and lots of info tips from Baka Mattsu) I finally laid to rest my worries. I would like to turn my site into a Saber Marionette Shrine with the most extensive information about our favorite Saber Girls and more. anybody with additional infos are welcome to help ^^ (I'll need a lot of it) - Arigatou mina!!!

I tried contacting Hanami months ago from the email contacts on his site, but received no answer. I think he's moved on. Sad, considering that was once the biggest source of good SM info on the net for us gaijins.

I'm looking forward to seeing what you do with your site, and will be keeping close tabs. You can bet you'll be getting a lot of feedback and suggestions! :)

    Close Call...

I remember last 2005 it was still up, and right before all of its contents finally vanish I was able to save almost all of the pages and now they are all in my SMJ Data Bank, I would like to use the contents in my site, but before I can do that I would need to ask permission from the webmaster of Hanami's SM World. If contacting him is quite impossible I would be forced to proceed with the update, but I will put notes where I got them. I would also like to know what happened to Miracle Genki, if I remember correctly they have a pretty extensive image collection of SMJ manga and novel scans, images that are pretty hard to come by these days. I also once opened a site that featured scans of Saber Marionette R images, the sad part is that I was never been able to track it down anymore it probably closed down years ago, but the good thing is that I have managed to upload some of the images in my site and now they are in my SMJ Data Bank as well. Can anybody point me to where I can get Saber Marionette Z images???
In case some of you guys don't know, I have placed the saved images in my site you can see the images here Saber Marionette R Image Gallery the first four images came from Hanami's SM world and the rest is from the unknown SMJ site I once found. I tried looking for more images from SMR but I always end up in my own page...

I can't help with tracking down Mircale Genki, but I own all of the SMJ Manga and Novels. I'll see about getting you some new scans. ^^

    Project N

I have been doing a little reading on previous thread called "Babelfish failed me. Can you help?" and about the shiritsu oedo gakuen koubouki tranlations made by Kaori. I'm at a loss for details, some how I get the picture but it's not very clear. If by chance, have you been able to decipher the web page and it's entirety???

By what I have read and understood so far the shiritsu oedo gakuen koubouki seems very similar to my little story that I called "Project N". Note! I have only written this work in 2005 I have no idea what so ever about "shiritsu oedo gakuen koubouki", I only learned about its existance recently. It's getting a little freaky for me the way the Project girls "Mode settings" are similar to the "Limiter" and the "Hydra technology" with "Nano-machine".

Well, anyway. Can anybody halp me tranlate the pages contained here --> http://www.i-poli.com/html-second/sp-ohedo1.html I,m not good at reading Japanese ><

I'm very slowly bungling my way through the first SMJ novel using kanji dictionaries, babelfish, and OCR software. I can take another look at ohedo sometime, but progress has been slow.

As for your story being close to ohedo, I can understand the freaky feeling. My original J vs M fanfiction story plan turned out very close to some elements in J to X before I had seen the series - so close in fact that I had to retune things after I did finally see it.

In my opinion that's a good sign - it means we're in the same mindset as Akahori's. :)
