Naruto Why did Itachi join Akatsuki?

We all should know that Itachi wanted power. But didn't he want to gain that power himself? Didn't he was to "test himself?" So why did he join Akatsuki?

I think if anything it was by force which would make the Leader the one that forced him. Considering some don't want to join.

Your thoughts?

How much more power can someone glean by sucking in a tailed god? Makes sense to me. If he could absorb Naruto's demon can you imagine how much power he would have? He'd be unstoppable.

My understanding is that a person can transfer the tailed beasts from one to another. It deams logical considering how long people lives last.

Considering it isn't necessary to bring out tailed beasts this way. Why are they doing it?

Wasn't the nine tailed rumored to be part of the Akatsuki?

Why would Itachi help unless he got one of the tailed gods then? I think this jutsu is more then what we think it to be.

There wouldn't be a point to Itachi joining. Unless he joined for being asscoiated with that power. But Itachi wouldn't do that.

And also...

Wouldn't that go against what Itachi wanted to do? Gain power himself. *Read Wert's "Pulling out the tail gods for details"*

Very few people in Akatsuki seem to really join with it relating directly to their immediate goal.

Itachi wanted power.

Hidan wanted to spread his religion.

Kakuzu wanted money.

Zetsu God only knows but he only seems to trust himself.
"Byakko" no idea.

Kisame seemed interested in pretty much destroying Kirigakure and just fighting strong people.

Pein we don't know his personal goal yet.

Deidara wanted to spread his art.

Sasori we don't really know.

Tobi/Madara wanted to, as we can assume, do what Pein told everyone they were doing since it is Tobi/Madara pulling the strings.

Though I don't imagine we can rule out Itachi being forced to join, especially with it revealed that Uchiha Madara is actually the leader of the Akatsuki and it's insinuated that Itachi knows Madara is, in fact, alive... so perhaps Madara forced Itachi (just like Itachi, Sasori and Kisame... or more specifically just Itachi... forced Deidara to join).

Now it all makes more sense considering Madara is there.

Itachi doesn't seam to type to want help to gain power. Though who knows maybe if it actually intregies him enough. I hope they answer this.

I think Madara wants Sasuke to join Akatsuki. His sharigan is way better then Itachi's. Maybe a test to that is that Sasuke has to get Naruto. But I don't think he can... Hehe another thread.

So what is your take on the jutsu that pulls out the tailed beasts?

I doubt that the Akatsuki would care if they sacrafised someone to pull it out.

Or maybe there are only "special" ways to pull it out. Like mother to child. Or person to person as in tailed beast to new tailed beast.

Just thought of something...

Maybe Madara forced Itachi to join and destory his clan otherwise he would hurt Sasuke. With his type of personality why would he even look remotily sad? He knew his brother didn't die.
