I decided to start this little thread because I haven't seen any other threads about this little known anime title called "Hell Teacher Nube" other known as Jigoku Sensei Nube. The first time I watched the series was back in 1998 (or was it 99  I simply forgot:p) Well, anyway, it was aired in my area (the Philippines) during the Anime rush at the end of the millennium, the time when great anime classics (now legends) were all in full bloom like Saber Marionette J, Ranma 1/2, Dragon Ball Z, Sailor Moon and so on...

That time I could swear I have watched almost all the latest animes that were brought to local stations in my country (even though they were already a few years older). One series that captivated my imagination is Hell Teacher Nube, because it deals with folk lores, demons and common supernatural manifestations that you would often hear from other people. To simply put, I like listening to ghosts stories since many animes are of action, adventure and love comedy categories very few fall in the horror and suspense like Hell Teacher Nube. And here is an anime story that you could relate to real life! How many times did you hear children say they see shadows on the halls or hear cries from the toilet at school when nobody is around? For the modern people it's rubbish to believe in these things, but hey, many of us have gone through the phase when you jump out of bed late at night waking your parents and say you saw something move under your bed or the boogie man is hiding in the closet:p

The interesting thing about Hell Teacher Nube is that it also include facts based on real Japanese youkai (kuwaidan) and then some asside from the usual love sick, wacky professor theme that most animes had during the time. It's really a very interesting anime that will keep you on the edge of your seat. Some time earlier I tried to look for a torrent of this anime and I was very upset to find out nothing... But yesterday I was surprised to see 10 episodes of it recently upped on a famous anime site. unlike Ghost Sweeper Mikami, Hell Teacher Nube is more terrifying in comparison to the style and seriousness of the story, I would like it if the fansub group working on the series would continue and finish it. But sadly not many people are interested in downloading it. Do anime fans hate anime that are based on ghost stories???

I've seen that show, I kinda liked it.

Anyway I'm not much into anime horror, I don't know why. Maybe it's just because there aren't many of them.

However, I'd get a Silent Hill anime right away :D

I'd be happy to watch something new. I'm dying for new, good anime instead of all the crappy wishywashy all flash no content series. All I can find are ten episodes? How long was the original series?

It was recorded that Hell teacher Nube had 49 episodes, not to mention that it also had an OVA series which had 3 episodes and I think it had two movies (not sure if there were only two )

There is just something in it that anime that fills my head with lots of stuff :D, Sensei Nube has a huge crush on his co-teacher named Ritsuko, his lovey dovey moments with Sensei Ritsuko will be ruined with the appearance of a snow woman named Yukime, now yukime is a snow woman (girl) whom Nube met 5 years prior to the time when she first appeared in the series (Yukime was still a little snow girl back then;)). The thing I liked about Nube's love story is at first he had a huge crush on Ritsuko and he would do anything to catch her attenton, but on the other hand, Nube would do mostly anything to get away from Yukime (it's like a love hate relationship with Nube and Yukime), later when Yukime died it was then Nube realized that he actually fell in love with her and at that time Ritsuko finally begin to show affections with Nube (it's pretty twisted, but I liked what they did with it:p). A few episodes later Yukime returns, but she was not the same Yukime who have died, somehow she was revived and all her memory were erased, at first Yukime's primary mission was to kill Nube and his students, but for some reason, Yukime can't do it, it seems that something deep inside her is keeping her from doing harm to Nube and his students. In the end Yukime was compelled to get rid of Nube, but Nube rescued Yukime from her frozen sleep and once more regained her memory. I forgot how the rest go, but that's all I could remember of some of the good things that I liked about Hell Teacher Nube :), one very funny episode I liked about Nube and Yukime was when the snow child appeared and it looked like chibi Nube! According to Japanese folklore before the snow falls a snow child would appear and it would play pranks with people and when it gets satisfied it will return to the sky and bring forth snow (correct me if I'm wrong :p) Yukime jokingly admits it was her lovechild with Nube.
