    ???

    hm

Well... If you're gonna ask me why I love animes, I could say it portrays the ideal life that I have in mind (and wish I have), but can never be possible in real life. Plus they got a lot of cool stuff, and exceptionally adorable characters which you could easily fall in love with. For some reason, people can relate to the characters portrayed in the shows which gains the viewer's respect (I dunno about other people), but it seems like the characters themselves (although ficticious) are being treated as real celebrities there is a mystical link to them that trancends through reality making them seemingly cross the line between imagination and real life (at least I think so :p). Animes also cover a wide range of viewers from toddlers to adults and there is a wide variety to chose from. Some have inspirational themes and there are some that are just plain crazy and stupid. As for me when I feel down, I just watch animes and they always make me feel a little better

Animation is a media format that is only limited by the imagination. It's far easier from a cost-perspective to produce scenery, effects, and characterization through animation than anything done live.

What sets anime itself apart from western animation ("cartoons") is that it covers a much broader spectrum and audience than its american counterpart. You could almost say animation has the stigma of being strictly for children in the west - although with Anime's popularity on the rise, it is possible to see a reduction this preconception. Mind you, there have been exceptions (The Simpsons, Family Guy, etc.), but the selection is not high among them.

The initial pull to anime for myself was how different and foreign it was. There are hallmarks that made things unique from western entertainment - the very things many complain have become cliche with each new production.

What keeps me in the interest are the complete and enduring storylines (often those based on novel or manga works) and the complete "out in left field" titles that tend to pop out every year. There are titles so unique in Japan that could never have made it out of the starting production gate in America.

Actually, I don't understand to as why would I pay a huge amount of money to crappy dubbed anime, while I can get it subbed at best (be it d/led or bootlegged).

I don't mind paying for the work of subbing, even though it sucks too. No one subs like fansubs xD

Companies care about doing the work, be it subbing or dubbing, they don't care about the feelings involved in it which makes it better. Until they do, I'll care about paying them back ;)

I wouldn't agree in all cases. A number of american releases of anime have been fantastic, and some even go the extra mile to support the hardcore fans. Many also release limited edition versions alongside the basic releases that include collectibles that can't be acquired through any other means. And even now and then you even get releases with (gasp) good dubbing.

I believe the OP's point was more about the original creation. Buying licensed anime does end up supporting the original talents behind it, where obtaining and hoarding fansubs doesn't grant them a cent.

That isn't to say I am against the fansubbing community - I admit that without them, anime would have far less exposure than it does today. It's an unofficial promotion tool, and I sample a lot through their efforts as well.

That said, I'm also a supporter of the official releases, and drop the money for titles I thoroughly have enjoyed to show my support.

Well Anime, I can’t begin describe what I like about you. For me it’s like asking why do we breathe air? Why do birds fly? Why do fish swim? And the likes.

    I guess I just do.

But by now you, dear anime, do deserve a better reason.

I’ll start off with your maturity level. Even with shoujo’s under your belt you still display a higher maturity level then most of the other animation out there. Don’t mistake me for saying I don’t like shows with crud humor such as Aqua Teen Hunger Force. To me shows like that can only be watched sparingly.

Another aspect that I like about you, Anime, is your plot line or story line. You have the habit of having an in-depth plot line that is definitely more real then the western animation that’s other there. The characters are highly more believable along with the times the story is set.

It’s not just your plot lines it is also the imagery. Without you, anime, I do believe western animation wouldn’t have gotten as far as it did. You definitely set the bar on how the imagery should be especially with cartoon shows.

I must say dear Anime that you have a much wider range of genre then any of the cartoons out there. I personally prefer more of the darker and supernatural genres. It is solely thanks to you that I even get a fix of it.

Not only do you have all that you also have an equal companion called Manga. When I can’t get enough of the Anime or the story has ended I know 9 out of 10 times there is a Manga to read. The Manga is usually further along and it gives me more of satisfaction. Compared to with cartoons where the comic comes later then the cartoon if there is every any.

Not only that Anime, you also are available on a regular basis with hardily any breaks and thanks to that I am very thankful. It's not like we have to wait for "seasons" with cartoons. You run year round. Thanks Anime for barely taking a breath or relaxing.

As an added note, to me cartoons are animation not anime. I still stand by the fact that Anime is purely originated from Japanese. You definitely deserve that title.

To close I will say thanks for the great hobby dear Anime.

well one of my main reasons of watching anime was when I was a kid in middle school I didn't even know what anime was until I saw a commerical on cartoonnetwork about inuyahsa on adult swim.I think the other anime I was watching even other was pokemon but I didn't know it was it didn't effect me as much as watching inuyahsa for the first time.Later this caused to me to watch some other that were on adult swim on adult swim like trigun. It showed me something I forgot what it was but after that when I got to high school I had stopped getting in trouble in school about fights with my peers, kept getting in detention, hanging out in gang at my school, fighting the leader of our middle school gang, must I go on.Pretty soon I ended up in special ed.Then I gas when I got into anime and manga I guess I'd changed altough I still have some traits of me i couldn't leave behind oh well at least I gotten better yah.I'm now mixed black and white student thats on the honor role soon or might be going to honors:cool::D.But I guess what made me so attraced to it was it both made me feel motivated and opened up some emotions inside me that were forced shut.Considering the place where i live having these emotions could be problems at times which sent me toeards becoming a BBoy (Breakdancing Boy) it helped with hiding some emotions that some poeple I know shouldn't see and didn't require violence most of the time which was something I needed to keep me out of fights.

    Anime..
    hmm..
Why do I love this thing called anime?

Anime is a fantasy world. I often watched anime and still do when I have problems and it'll get my mind off. I love the stories..It's like i'm on of the characters and I really understand it better than I do some things in actually realistic movies. Anime has also taught me many lessons just by watching the whole series. Plus, hey..for some reason most of the characters remind me of myself and that's unusual.

I love the art. It's beautiful. Everything about anime is beautiful.

well lets see why i like anime...
well i guess because anime look so bright, colourful and realistic. each and every part slide is kinda like a beutiful artistic piece and the characters as done so realisticailly but so simple. (plus most being cute, sexy :p)
plus i like all imaginnation which is used in it and it still keeps normal attitudes within it you know kinda realistic
and strangely enough :) it makes you want to imagine being there well i dunno
i espicailly like the fourms what were created for anime. Because i wouldn't be happy enough not knowing all the wonderful people that i did going to these fourms and feeling welcome and comfortable talking about this or other things :D
well guess i ain't got the best reason but i think its reason enough
    I LOVE YOU ANIME *[IMG]*
