Brilliance. Best I think of all the Batman movies. I watched with Bruce Willis a looong time ago and I watched the newest Batman beforehand not too long ago. Hieth Ledger played the part of the Joker the way it should always be played.

"Want to see a magic trick? I can make this pencil disappear."
Guy approaches the Joker in a menacing way.
WAM. [hits guys hit on the table and the pencil is inserted in his skull]
    "There. I made it disappear!"

    "Why so serious?"

Anyone else seen it? I liked Two Face as well and it was awesome they showed the background to what created his well..evilness. Poor bastard.

Saw it again last night at an Imax. First time ever going to one. That screen is HUGE. Looked purrrdy too.

Well it wouldn't be gay if it were you, now would it? ;)

Has anyone seen Gothem Knight? the anime done by different artists that tells six different stories of the Batman between Batman Begins and The Dark Knight. I thought that some of them were interesting, like the one about how the 3 kids see Batman in different ways according to the myths about him (e.g. one hes a shadow monster, the other hes a flying demon).

I though that The Dark Knight was great. I thought that it paid great tribute to the the comic and its characters, espesally the Joker, since in this one he's less of a funny man (although he does have his moments) and more of a split between psychopath and genius.

I went in with only half thought of being amused. I came out of the theater with a wet stain in my crotch.... Out of shear awesomeness I threw my drink in the air when the Joker told his story. Damn great movie

"Why so serious??? Let's put a smile on that face..." o_O

This is probably the first movie in years that was packed two weeks after opening, and that people needed to clap in the end. Touche Dark Knight, if you don't get some awards, I'm calling shenanigans xD

Mac: But our shenanigans are cheeky and fun!
Thorny: [referring to Farva] Yeah, and his shenanigans are cruel and tragic.
Foster: [after a pause] Which... makes them not really shenanigans at all.
Mac: [in a silly voice] Evil shenanigans!
Captain O'Hagan: I swear to God I'm going to pistol whip the next guy who says, " Shenanigans."
Mac: Hey Farva what's the name of that restaurant you like with all the goofy s**t on the walls and the mozzarella sticks?
    Farva: You mean Shenanigans?
    Mac: OOOOOOOOOOOOOO.
    Thorny: OOOOOOOOOOOOOO.
[as they hand the Captain their pistols]

The dark knight rocks. It's at 40 mil a week taking in. Doesn't look like it will slow down.

    My fav quotes are

"I believe whatever doesn't kill you simply makes you... stranger."

    and

"See, I'm not a monster...I'm just ahead of the curve."

The next batman won't be the same without Heath Ledger.

I'll have to check out Gotham Knight

Raspy voice? Michael Keaton did the same thing. It masks his voice when he's batman. That way no one can go "Hey, you sound like Bruce Wayne." He's supposed to be something more than human right? Everyone hits him on that, but it makes sense. Funky thing going on with his lips? He's Batman, probably my favorite. Remember Batman begins?

    Awesome.

Finally went and saw this one this past Labour Day weekend. It didn't disappoint.

The writing was absolutely brilliant and in tune with the source material - the corruption not only within the Joker himself, but his continued setups to corrupt others.

My biggest pet peeve with every Batman movie from 80s to present has been the almost requisite need by the directors or writers to reinforce Batman's backstory. How many times do we need to see his parents murdered or Bruce being frightened from a bat in his childhood? It was good to see the newest reboot is eschewing this trend. In fact, the Joker almost pokes fun at the background story concept by presenting the two falsified anecdotes about how he got his scars.

My two favourite scenes are of similar themes with different outcomes. The first is right in the opening - the bank job, showing a team of criminals with no respect for life. The second is the one inolving the two bomb rigged ferries giving a completely different examination of humanity. These are just two examples of many throughout the film that are ripe for social study and moral discussion.

I think that's what made the movie work well for me - it can be enjoyed as a simple "popcorn" action flick, but at the same time you have the option to pick it apart at the seams and explore the deeper themes beneath its exterior. It works on several levels of investment.

    -----

As for Bruce Willis as Batman...

"I want you to tell all your friends about me."
    "What are you?!"
    "I'm Batman. Yippee-kayo kayay."

LOL Dude I just like looked at my Karma and I was like I have to redeem myself. I didn't mean like this batman because Bruce Willis was never really that good looking..Christian Bale didn't do too bad as Batman and I think the actor for two-face was okay, even if he looked like some sort of angel in the Arkham Asylum. Well anyway I meant like in the past. I remember watching the Batman with Scarecrow in it and the other with Robin. Just can't remember who played him =/
