    My pre-order has been in on Arkham Asylum for some time now. Very much anticipating next Tuesday. :)

    Sadly, I've hit a financial drought so I have no money to buy it. So I just play the demo over and over and over and over again and just hope if I do it enough something new will happen. ;~;

    Stand by for awesome...

    I was looking over the new batman game, and it's getting critical acclaim.

    ...I mean, flat out, across the board, it's stomping butt. Everyone is saying how good this game is. "The Greatest Batman Game Ever Made". I'm thinking of stealing a copy for myself to see what's to hot about it.

    There's not much I can say about Dead Space that Chane hasn't already said. It's a third person, over the shoulder shooter that drips with atmosphere and tension. It's a game that likes to shock you with the unexpected. It's a little like RE:4, only it's in a space ship and there's a ton of freaky critters running around.

    He's right about there not being a HUD. The life bar is built into the spine of Issac's RIG, the ammo count is read on the weapons itself, and any menu browsing is done via holographic projection from Issac's RIG. As you browse through the menus the game continues on in real time, so you can be attacked while dealing with your items. You can also be attacked at save points, shops, and upgrade tables, which means there are no 'safe spots' for you to rest in. Thankfully, the enemies aren't on a constant respawn cycle, so once you kill them, they stay dead until you return to that part of the ship later on. You have to remember that Issac is not a space marine, he's an engineer, so he's got to make due with tools and equipment that were not designed to kill creatures. The game's tension is furthered by scenes in Zero gravity (where you can be attacked in any direction) as well as scenes when there is no air and you are pressed by the need for speed to get back to atmosphere before your air supply runs out, while being ambushed by nasties. You kill the necromorphs, not by headshots, but by dismembering them which, as I've read and agree with, forces you to 'unlearn' the headshot. They keep coming for you and learn different patterns of attacks as you clip their arms and legs. One of my favorite necromorphs in the game were humans that were once female. Their bellies are bloated and they walk around rather slowly, but if you blast their distended guts, they die and release all these smaller critters and swarm you, necessitating the need to clip them smartly, without tripling the onscreen enemies. It's not an easy task when you're under attack by half a dozen other Necromorphs charging at you.

    I don't think you'll regret buying Dead Space. It is far, far removed from Doom 3, and a superior game in every respect. Immerse yourself, man. The USG Ishimura is calling to you.

    There's a conspiracy theory that Eidos has fixed the early reviews, creating an embargo allowing only reviews of 90% and up to publish before the lockout period.

    From what I gather, it's solidly in the 80% range - a great game, but with its faults. We'll have to see where it lands after the entirety of reviews have been released.

    Nonetheless, after playing the very short demo (1.5 gig download for 15 minutes of play anyone?) I'm still stoked as ever for Tuesday.

    But...that could also be attributed to the closest full of Bat-comics in my apartment. Yeah, I'm a bit of a fan.

    You know, I'm not even a big Batman fan. It's cool, yeah, but I'm more of a Marvel guy. But I was completely taken by the way Arkham Asylum looks, and the demo I played.

    That's the weird thing, I got it in Game Informer, and the cover was Rock Band (The Beatles), not Arkham Assy.
