Us wacky Canadians had it back in October, but it was great. I love holidays that involve lots of food. :)

You worked on Thanksgiving? The only people I can imagine who worked on Thanksgiving are people from NORAD and the like :p

Thanksgiving was great here too. Just spent it with my parents and extended family. No fights, no drama and everything tasted great.
Except they only had pie for dessert. Ug, I never liked anything other than chocolate pie.
And then, to make matters worse: that night I went home and started doing homework :(
Boo and nuts to ya'll who have already graduated College.

Old man Phalanx, been a while. Don't stress none, I'm still in college too. Beats the hell out of the Navy.

Must you Canadians do everything weird? Let me guess, you don't have pilgrims and indians in your Thanksgiving festivities either? Bunch of nutters.

Hah, I suppose it just barely does. Right now it sure doesn't though, but I know a lot of people would object :p

Maybe we should start some "In frozen Canada" jokes. "In frozen Canada, BakaMatt celebrates Thanksgiving a day early".
Gah, that sucked but at least I tried ;)

Not weird, just different. We can't clone you guys in the south at 100% everything, after all.

I remember the pilgrims and natives thing back when I was younger. I think that whole portion of the holiday has been downplayed over time. It doesn't go over well with the First Nations crowd.

When the snow actually hits, sure. But we're into December now and the ground's still green. Hard to live up to the "Great White North" image when it's jacket weather.

So long as you guys have a piece of currency called the "Looney" and your eastern half is commonly known as New France-Land (on my block), I don't think you have to worry about being clones of us Yanks. And in that regard, you guys are still wwwwweeeeeiiiiirrrdddd~.

Who calls them Natives? "Mah, Gran' daddeh played Cowboy'n injuns when he was nu'ttin but a milk burpin' tyke. Aint no Natives here, har hur!"

And what the devil is the First Nations crowd?

I am worth wertie on this one. Who are they? I think I have an idea but not 100 percent sure.

I decided to say grace this year. Lets just say I used the word betrayal.

Anyway Thanksgiving should be about the first harvest and being thankful that there is food on the table. I understand the whole first thanksgiving BUT what came after next was a betrayal. So lets just be thankful for food. :D

Phalanx - I work at a 24/7/365 gas-station. I worked Thanksgiving morning, Christmas Eve morning, and Christmas morning last year, too.

    **** happens.

    @ Chane
Goddang, that's rough. And to think that I thought I had it tough having to work on all my off-school time (except holidays and rainy days).

Arg, I'll be thankful when my family stops serving pie. Pie makes me sick :dizzy:
Actually, the food's plenty good enough. Like dessert it was, so I'm thankful.
    Just could'a used some chocolate-something.

Got my phone stolen, just got another so if your on BJP and you used to text me all of the time then go back to it. Same number.

Hope everyone is having a good week. I would click the wiki link but it doesn't seem interesting enough to scan millions of words for a explanation.

Which is why it's convenient that the very first sentence of the link serves as explanation enough.

Since I'm reading that clicking a link is too much work, here's an extracted quote that sums it up:
    In other news...

...Scientists continue to express concern over global warming. This time it is allegedly encouraging more polar bears to consume bear cubs because seals are inaccessible due to lack of frozen accessways.

...Barack Obama received his nobel peace prize. This is a milestone event that indicates we have unlocked the secrets to time travel - he received the award for an achievement that hasn't yet come to pass.

They've given out preemptive, or even questionable peace prizes before. This is not the first time. Because it's being given to a black, democratic president who followed in the footsteps of Bush, people are flaring up. A bunch of really smart people got together and said "Give it to this fool for this reason." It's about the impact of the message the recipient sends as much as actual achievement. It's how they do business. How do you think Arafat got it?

Al Gore got one for a slide show and people didn't scream and holler this much. This is more about political hustle and bustle than it is about the actual award. He's a democrat preaching a policy of peace and, as such, the divisions of opinion are along dem/repub lines. He probably got the prize because after so long with Bush spouting war, the fact that the American President is pushing for peace, the world is excited and relieved.

So, partial credit to Bush for setting up the conditions for Obama's award. To that end, Bush also receives credit for destroying the economy, America's world image, our own system of human rights, and an entire country in the middle east, actually setting up the conditions to get Americans to think "Let's put a Black guy into office. He can't do any worse." Considering the country is no longer in a downward death spiral, I'm inclined to be optimistic, despite not voting for the guy.

I told you using the word "Obama" as a euphemism wasn't going to work, Matt. Now the whole world knows!
