How much does it cost for a cup of sympathy? How much for one dam response? No body notices... would they care if I were blind? No, that doesn't matter. Being -19 and -17 doesn't matter, heck they don't even have a clue. Having a tear in my retina doesn't matter. It has never been easy... being as I am at such an age... but why bother telling you? Is your sympathy as genuine if I have to scream it out at you that this is not going to be easy? God it hurts... I'm scared... what will happen? No one here is comforting at all... not even my friends seem to grasp the idea... but at least I know they are there...
Sight is such a fragile thing... that is a fact I live with.

I'm not blind... but you can't see me.

    Mood: sad, angry, hurt

Relax girl. I didn't reply earlier because I didn't think you would consider it such a 'life altering expirience'. Your retnas are going to be fine. Laser surgery has become something of an art. The medical field has studied the hell out of this area. My aunt had a problem with her retna beginning to detatch and they used the same procedure. They ended up using a bubble to hold the retna in place while they did thier work and to keep it where it needs to be afterwards. Her vision since has never been better and her retna couldn't have healed more perfectly.

Relax and don't be so scared. Surgery is a little freaky, but half of the entire process is trusting the doctor who's going to be working on you. Quit letting your imagination paint the picture of what you dont want to happen in your mind, and start thinking about how well your vision will improve after everything is said and done. It's not good to be so negative. If you're comfortable and relaxed going into the operating room it will make the doctor working on your more comfortable and relaxed and less likely to make a mistake. If you go in nervous and jittery it'll rub off onto him.

I understand how you feel, but you need to just relax. Shed the attitude and grow a smile, it'll make all the difference in the world. :D

    When is it going down?

Sit down, pour a cup of chai, and chill. You'll be fine. This procedure is done everyday by hundreds of doctors. They've been practicing this for years. Like I said- it's an art. For some of these guys it's second nature. Get that second opinion and if need be go through with the surgery. Have a little faith.
