Well, Gatchaman has hit the 30 mark. October 1, 1972 was the air-date for the first episode, "Gatchaman Vs. the Turtle King". It's come a long way. The first season has been translated twice and the 2nd and third seasons once. Gatchaman appeared as a feature length film, cameo appearances in another Tatsunoko film, and Gatchaman Baby. It has been remade into an OAV, which was dubbed, in 1994. Now, it is undergoing yet another reincarnation as a comic book series under the name of the first translation, Battle of the Planets. Battle of the Planets is selling very well, from what I hear, in both the comic and the dvds. Heck, Gatchaman was remade for a telephone commercial! I have to say, that's pretty good for any tv show, and incredible for a cartoon.
Here's hoping for another 30 years,

Wow, Gatchaman turns 30 this year and Battle of the Planets turns 25 next year. For something to last that long, it has to be good stuff!

May it still be going strong for many years to come...

As for the UK Universal Replay BOTP release, I notice that the DVDs are at no 11 in the WH Smith chart, and 25 on the Blackstar.co.uk chart. Which I think is not bad :D

WHO KNOWS, MAYBE WE WILL SEE A NEW ANIMATED SERIES FOR ITS 25TH NEXT YEAR.
THAT WOULD BE VERY COOL FOR ALL US THURTY-SOMETHING FOLKS WHO REMEMBER WATCHING THE SHOW AS KIDS.
