Neon Genesis Evangelion A couple maybe not so quick questions

Ive just finsished watching the box set of NGE and have a couple of questions. these are just some things that are kinda bugging me at the mement.
there are a couple of scenes i saw ie in previews and on the spin of the dvd and i want to know what episodes they are in cuz i dont remeber seeing them if in fact they are in any epsiodes.
First scene is where Unit 2 picks up a battleship and it splits in two
Second scene is where Unit 1 goes into the air and those red wing like things appear.

I know the world was rewritten in the end, and i want to know why, how(what took place for it to happen) and when did that happen(after a battle or what)?

I heard there is a second ending to NGE and i want to know if it is better than the first and what happens in it.

just basically the last two eps blew my mind and i want to understand it.

hopefully someone can help me with these by either telling me or showing me where to go to understand.

 

I'll try to make this as easy as i can to follow.
The scene you saw were unit02 lifts up the battle ship is from The End Of Evangelion.
Its the same for the one you saw of Unit01 with the wings.

The real ending to Evangelion was removed and put onto the dvd The End of Evangelion. That was the real ending and not the one ant the end of the series. So basically you just have to watch The End of Evangelion dvd to see the real ending to the story.

 

After reading through some of the other posts and looking at other sites i understand that there is two other movies/episodes? life, death or something and i am wondering what do they have to do in the grand sceme of NGE? and what order should i watch those three?, because now that there is more to NGE im gonna watch them.

There are only two dvds:
Death and Rebirth & The End of Evangelion.

Death and Rebirth is basically taking a look at everything that has happened so far in the story and tries to make sense of it all. And it does this quite well.
After the it shows the first half of The End of Evangelion. And just as things are getting goos it ends. Thats when you have to go out again and buy The End of Evangelion.
This dvd is the real endding to the series.
You can watch Death and Rebirth first and then The End of Evangelion. But if it were up to me i wouldn't bother buyind Death and Rebirth unless you just want to listen to the directers commantry.

 

Both endings are the real ending, just the series version is the goings on in Shinji's lil messed up head (Rei's & Asuka too but mainly the whiney brat) the film was what was going on outside of his head(Unless thats what you mean by "Real")... well until the tang goes bang (I dont care if it doesnt make sense... it rythmes :anger2: )

 

Yes it does rythme. Anyway the ending on the dvd was the original two epasodes that were to be aired. But for some reason they decided to scrach it and bring them out on dvd with a few extra bits in it. I can't remember why though. If you lidtin to the commontary they might tell you why. It's been ages since i seen it so i can't say for sure.

 

Actually the ending in the series is the real ending, and the movies are basically Anno's way of saying **** you. He did them because he was getting death threats. All those extra scenes were made basically just for the movie or they are copies of the original scenes which they lost.

 

I would like to thank both of you for answering the questions and (not to sound ungrateful) there is only one question left to be answered if someone can.its about the only thing i dont understand about the series.

Id really suggest you watch End of Evangelion instead of asking how it occured, but as for why, if you mean the Uber happy Rei reality...

Twas an example on how Shinji could alter the world to suite himself & to provoke a big-*** revalation on his concept of existence/living. As to what the answer actually is... well Anno left it to be interpreted yourself... lazy gi(I'll leave it to someone else to say the most common interpretation)

yeah i was gonna post tell you people that you dont need to answer my questions anymore. Cuz i started to think about what you guys said during my classes this morning, and i was just gonna post forget my questions cuz ill just watch those movies.
