Comics A Watchmen movie?

I heard that some director has taken on the challenge of producing the movie version of one of the most influencial comics of the 1980's.

Of course he's full of himself so he talks about "the spirituality of being a superhero", I think this shows that he hasnt read the comic, as most of the heroes are vigilantes, and only one "superhero" exists in the whole world.

He also talks about,"banding together to face a new threat", This means he really doesnt know what hes talking about, but i cant say why without serious spoilers so I wont

What has everyone else heard?

give it a few months, it'll be all over the net, the movie's in concept at the moment, but i'm really surprised that nobody cares about this
