Well, for those who I haven't told, I actually didn't quit my job. I was going to, but I figured, "hey, I'm going on vacation in a few weeks. What if that's all I need is a break?" So I toughed it out for a couple weeks until I went to Toronto. I've been back for a couple weeks now, and I really can't complain about the hours. The first week back I got 32, and this week I got 36. So I'm not really short on funds anymore. :)

But things haven't gotten a whole lot better. I came back to find more than a few things had been neglected, and that nothing had really changed. People still broke rules, they still cause the same problems they always did, except now they're making sarcastic jokes about it. "Oh, we had to shut down the deli while you were gone. We couldn't survive without you." I fail to see any humour in these, and to be honest they're a little insulting.

Anyway, I found out that one of the rules I fought so hard to get people to follow, was one that even the manager didn't care about. She doesn't seem to think it matters at all.

Well, I figure I'll take a more apathetic view on it. I'll stop caring about that rule, at least, and instead fight the hypocrisy that exists. By this, I mean something fairly simple. When I get asked to do something, I have to do it. When I ask someone to do something, I have to do it. When someone leaves work for me, I have to finish it. When I try to leave work for someone else, I still have to do it.

So I'll adopt the policy, "If you start it, you finish it, or it doesn't get done." For example, one of my coworkers sliced a bunch of meat I didn't need and told me I had to package it for the sandwich bar. Now, it's not a task that would have existed, if not for her. So I told her that she'd have to package it herself. Well, she got into a bit of an arguement with me, about how it was my job to do and I should do it, with me arguing that it was her job the instant she started doing it, and that SHE should finish what she starts. I didn't get the chance, but her, not finishing that task (a small one, yes, but a task nonetheless) makes her a liar and a hypocrite. Since she had once told me that she hated when she couldn't finish a job she started.

Anyway I left it there, for her. :) So the job didn't get done, because I refused to pick up her slack, and she refused to do a job that she thinks I should have done.

Wow. I'll admit I sound kind of like a jerk here. But I figure, if I start demanding the same treatment others get, I'll have to get it. Even on the smallest tasks, I won't budge an inch on this, and see where it gets me. I don't mind losing this job, either. I'm half-heartedly looking for another one, now.

This concludes this session of complaining about my life. It's nothing much but there it is. You'll have to understand that although I do sound like I'm making an a-- of myself, that this kind of treatment has been going on for a long time, that people seem to think I have to do everything for them.
