Brainstorming...

Hiya, and welcome to the first RPG forum in the new age here at M2A. I've been brewing this one for some time now, but held off until the forums were "reborn".

The idea is a set of adventures based on the rules sent forth in the open source Anime d20 system, released by Guardians of Order, publishers of the ever popular anime rpg system, Big Eyes Small Mouth (BESM).

In this forum, we will be following this ruleset, with players playing their character solely, and me as Gamemaster dictating the outcomes (rolling your dice for you).

A lot of rules to swallow there, but don't get discouraged. If you need help understanding anything, feel free to start up a new topic discussion in this Anime d20 forum.

Okay, so now we have this thread here, which is where I'm asking potential interested players what sort of setting they'd like to play in.

So far I'm thinking in the direction of either modern, sc-fi, or fantasy. Are there any particular environments anyone would prefer the story to develop in?

Anyways, not had much feedback yet, on this possible game. If anyone has any comments, I'd like to hear them, positive or negative. I've come up with a few ideas so far:


Game Idea Propostion #1 - Inferior Saga.

The idea is a spinoff of the incredibly strange and weird Excel Saga anime. The players would be a team of agents working for a low-funded organization with aims to conquer the world, starting with a small metropolis known as "The City". No previous anime viewing would be needed, as the idea would stand on its own two feet (like an alternate universe or taking place in a different area of the universe).

Inferior Saga would allow for all sorts of varied character types, as it is a very non-serious game world to work in.


Game Idea Propostion #2 - Space Opera.

Classic sci-fi scenario. In this one, the players would be a fringer crew known as Trouble Contractors (idea stolen from Lost Universe ). Not working steady jobs for each individuals own reasons, the crew takes up odd jobs and contracts to get by - usually stuff that's either dangerous and/or bordering on illegal. These could be bounty hunts, smuggling, guard duty, you name it.

A number of character types might find it hard to work into this scenario, though, without modifications. (i.e. a Space Ninja, or Cyborg Smaurai)


Do either of these possibilities strike interest, or perhaps someone has a different idea or two to suggest?
