Azumanga Daioh All about Kaorin!

    Okay guys, let's talk about one of the more deserving characters in an already great cast.

    Normally shuffled to the background, along with Chihiro, she's the token "admirerer" of one of the other characters. Namely, she admires Sakaki.

    She always thinks as Sakaki as cool, un-fettered, and the strong and silent type. And, it's scary how far her obsession goes.

    At one point, she even hisses (cat fight!) evilly at Chihiro when she gets her chance to run with Sakaki for the school's three-legged race (which Chihiro thought she sprained her ankle, but turned out okay).

    Sometimes, it seems as if her admiration is totally on a level of "Wow, you're something I can never be!". But sometimes, it's more of a shoujo-ai (girl-love) type of relationship, more likely seen when she gets a chance of being with Sakaki. As, suddenly, she's surrounded by flowers and a wedding bell goes off.

    So, discuss this amazingly funny but background character! DO IT NOW! Funny Kaorin moments, funny Kaorin-Kimura moments, her obsession...

    I like it when her partner in gym isn't there, so she gets paired with Sakaki. Its like the happiest moment of her life, but then her friend returns. ("GO AWAY!!!!")
    Do you think shes actually "in love" with Sakaki? It seems more like that than admiration, in my opinion.

    There are clues to support both, is what I said.

    The wedding bells + field of roses kinda hint at the "in love" part. As does the dream she has of Sakaki being her "white knight", and the rest of the class as a bunch of gangsters.

    However, the fact that the roses are yellow would mean that it's more of a friendship thing.

    So, it's kinda seen as a little bit of both.

    Can't recall that wedding bell thingy...-needs to rewatch the show badly-

    Anyhow, I consider Kaorins "crush" on Sasaki rather over the admiration part. Since she looks up to her and, it feels like a sort of little sister looking up to a older sister type of relationship.

    Isn't the wedding bells part when Sakaki was in the boys line during the dance at the end of the festival, and it was her turn to dance?

    There's that, and pretty much whenever Kaori gets a chance to team up with Sakaki.

    The psychotic faces she makes is just precious. I could rewatch her hissing at Chihiro to go away all day. :dizzy2:

    If some chick obsessed over me I would be so annoyed!
    It's got to be love though. She blushes, right? If you met someone you truly admired, you wouldn't blush would you? But if its someone you have a thing for, you'll go red in the face.
