Okay, Say if you had the chance to be a manager. And had the chance to pick all the players in the world to be in your team. Who would you pick and why. Also explain what would be your prefferable formation in this case and why.

Heres my Team and My formation will be 4-1-2-1-2

    Cardozo---------- Owen

    Totti

    Zidane ---------- Zihna

    Cannavaro

Marquez --- Ferdinand -- Nesta -- Roberto Carlos

    Howard

This would be my team...but I would alternate it from time to time :D

I always liked the 4-1-2-1-2 because it is a formation that is very defensive but with an offensive advantage compared to the others. When I had FIFA 2005 I used to pick this formation all the time. It used to be Toluca a 2 star team vs Arsensal a 4-1/2 star team and I would still win! (Sorry, dont mean to brag...)

4-1-2-1-2 sure gives an advantage when it comes to offensive play. I prefer someone like Totti or Ronaldhino as a "Trequista", a free roaming central playmaker.

But there's a bad thing when it comes to this formation, and that is the wingers. You need some pacey wingers that can run, and run, and run...

    and run.

    I noticed that...

Everytime I have that problem...the wingers would just come in and head the ball. And since my teams rating is...well...under-rated its pretty easy for other players to just head the ball in. What formation do you suggest I play against this?

Are we speaking of Championship Manager tactics? If so, I'd go for pressing switched onto always (or half at least) and hard tackling if necessary.

I personally don't really like/use the 4-1-2-1-2 as like the problems mentioned you have no wingers to flank the opposition and leg it down the side of the pitch to provide corsses. Me being a more offensive playermainly build around midfield and strikers. My defenders are probably the least often I rid of compared to other positions (apart from GK). Get a sturdy set of defenders and build on your midfield... get some defensive midfielders as (in my personal opinion) they really do help in conceding less goals. Get pacey wingers with good crossing. Best formation for this is 4-4-2 really... I always put counterattack and attacking mentality on.

Also... passing can be affected by weather. Use shot passing in wet weather as it decreases mispasses etc... just mess around a little and you'll see the best choice of tactics.

And for anymore CM discussion please post in the CM thread. Thanks

I was talking about Fifa...but you still have a point there and I should consider using that formation from now on. Considering that toluca does have more defensive midfield than offensive. And toluca (in real life) are actually good on the counter attack. How cant you be without cardozo? lol but yes...i shall consider using it. thanks...
